We have two series to pick from Amory Ames is set in 1932 England. Electra McDonnell is set in WWII England. Both receive very good reviews. I look forward to reading on of them.

QNPoohBear | 773 comments I read the entire Amory Ames series and wasn't all that excited by it. I was expecting something a little more intriguing and not as much martial strife.

Sandy | 1637 comments I've read the first of each series and decided not to continue. There are just too many series I like better.

Last night I started A Peculiar Combination A Peculiar Combination (Electra McDonnell, #1) by Ashley Weaver . Set in 1940 London. I am quite enjoying it. Our main character Electra (Ellie) is quite smart and sassy. Uncle Mick is a fun character too. I am bit tired of WWII books but do like like the ones set in London better than resistance France. Glad I have tried this series, hope to get book 2 as well.

RachelG. | 467 comments I really enjoyed the Amory Ames series but haven't been able to get into Electra McDonnell. I am guessing it just hasn't been the right time since I enjoyed her other series.

Helen (helenfrominyocounty) | 235 comments GMTA, Rachel, I'm with you on this one. Enjoy the Amory Ames series but just didn't click with the other.

Sandy | 1637 comments On the otherhand, I disliked Amory intensely but liked Electra and her family, though not enough to add her to my series I try to follow.

I finished it last night and enjoyed it. I though plot was well put together. Gives you a little insight into espionage. Looking forward to book 2.

Katy | 228 comments I finished A Dangerous Engagement and liked it very much. I'm enjoying this series. The books seem to start out slow but then by the end I'm really into the story and don't want it to end. Someone commented that they got tired of the marital strife. I think that is always going to be there in this series.

I haven't tried the Electra McDonnell series yet. I will probably wait until I get caught up with the Amory Ames series. If the author doesn't write any more before I read book 8, I only have one more to go.
