This is one depressing and difficult chapter to read. The level of depravity and inhumanity permeating the Pannion Seer's army is just so sickening. I literally felt sick when reading the scenes of the torture chambers. And OMG, the ending of this chapter!! Poor poor Toc!
We have yet to see a truly vile race of people in the Malazan series, so reading of the Pannion Domin was interesting in an odd sort of way. Words cannot describe just how awful these people are and I certainly agree with TS on the torture chamber. Toc had an unexplained closeness with the wolf and we now discover that his eye is that of a wolf. The fact that he is able to see through his wolf friend's eyes is an interesting turn that may benefit Toc in the position he finds himself in at the close of the chapter.
