Mary | 5 comments Hi, my name is Mary,
I’m studying history (at university) at present and have the most remarkable opportunity of living with a retired history teacher: an awfully kind lady: my good friend’s mother: lucky me!
Outside of my given reading, I’m reading European political intrigue: to me, some, are thrillers, even more so than, some of, the novels I've read.
I work in a garden centre: part-time and real enjoy the outdoors and kitchen gardening.
I will try and read all the posts; I can't promise I'll add to them.
I don't do social media, I did, but suffered too much abuse. I get upset easily. Please be kind to me.

Rob | 3 comments I live just to the west of Chicago and spend my days working as a payroll clerk. My passion and that of my wife is making furniture; of which the house now abounds and has become a small business enterprise (we sell to friends and friends of friends). My wife’s family has a long military history; she was USAF and how we met. I did some time in the British Army (The Pay Corps). We read in our down-time, more so now the boys are getting ready to flit the roost. We tend towards good quality thrillers, espionage and political intrigue. (I did 5 years in the pay office of Military Intelligence; I'm the guy that signed off the expenses, so got to know quite a few of those on the operational side of things). Any recommendation will be gratefully received.

Mary, Mary: great to see you here. Quite some time ago you may have got upset easily: I doubt so now. You're a hero: all the work you've done to form the unofficial 'TRC' group. I've just joined this group, tooooooooooooooooo, after seeing you have.

Martin Turner | 2 comments Hi all,

I'm friends with Mary and Rob, plus a whole bunch of other searchers of good, real, espionage literature.

Mike Winters | 1 comments The wife (Helen) and I have retired early from the city and now live in a lush, green, rainy, valley of Wales. We never did enjoy the city too much and the arrival of Covid gave us time to assess our situation. We read and have done for years and years and, over wine and nibbles, prior to Covid we’d discuss our book choices with a group of good friends. Now, without that indulgence we decided - on advice from a good friend - to join an online bookclub. Our best wishes to all.

Beth | 3 comments I am Bethany (I answer to Beth) and I’m a farmer’s girl. The family have a farm here in Ireland and I just adore the life.

The above 'lot' know me. I'm a member of their gang.

Robbie | 1 comments Hi all,
Other than Klaus, I'm friends with all in this 'gang'.
I'm formerly with a UK ambulance service. I now live in Brussels and to earn a shilling I drive a luxury four-door car, with tinted windows. I, of course, have undergone intensive driver training. When I do have back-seat passengers, invariably they come with front-seat passengers who, of course, have undergone intensive 'other' training.
Consequently, although it is frowned upon, I occasionally find time in the working day when I can turn a few pages: whilst no one is watching: in the shadows: behind the scenes: unbeknown to my employer. I have to be careful, work away silently and above all 'stay-gray'.

Steve | 4 comments Hi all,

My wife, Susan, joined and never posted an intro. We are both ardent fans of espionage fiction and non-fiction. We regularly hunt the second-hand bookstore, the flea markets and we are a bus ride from the biggest bookshop in the world (Hay-on-Wye).

We wish 'good-reads' to all.

I'm Steve and both Sue and I are members: we don't know you. Does that mean we're not part of the 'above lot'?

Just asking ...

Clive | 1 comments Debbie (my wife) and I have retired. The offspring are long gone. We both lived the 'London-Life' and are glad to be from it. We walk. We talk. We read.

message 12: by Bianca (new)

Bianca | 1 comments Hello. I'm Bianca.
People called me, "Bee": just the once. First, they get the icy stare, then the bitten lip, then the grinding of the teeth, then the polite request they do not refer to me as an insect.
I'm in Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you for letting me join your group. I'm now reading every night. The TV went out the window (not literally - I'm not strong enough for that). The library here is free to join - yippee. I'm trying to read travel, history, historical fiction and thrillers/suspense/adventure.
