Rachel N. | 2282 comments Paul Sheldon wakes up after having a horrible car accident to find that he has two badly broken legs and that he is in a strangers house. Paul soon discovers he's been "rescued" by Annie Wilkes who is his number one fan, she is a former nurse who was dismissed for disturbing reasons. Instead of taking Paul to a hospital she keeps him locked up so he can write a sequel to his last book, since she didn't like how that book ended. There were some parts of the book I found to be scary and several others that were just gross and horrifying. I didn't like this book as much as some of King's other books. I found Paul to mostly be unlikable so I was left with no one to root for. The book also contains chapters from the book Paul is writing for Annie which I didn't care about.

Kelly | 106 comments I've seen the movie but not yet have read the book (the movie is amazing), and I had no idea the book contains chapters from the character's novel. It's a cool concept, but I can see how it probably doesn't add to the story. It kind of reminds me of the book The World According to Garp where the main character writes short stories throughout the book and even though they had nothing to do with the plot, they still kept the story move along quickly. I knew it has more gore in it than what was shown in the movie and I'm hoping that will keep the plot clipping along as I read.
