LaurLa | 3998 comments Hi Everyone! Looking forward to this. Family Feud is one of my favorite game shows.

I have added details and game information in message 1 but let me know if you have questions. I'll try to figure them out... or ask for the team if needed.

A little about me: I live in Brownsburg, Indiana - a suburb of Indianapolis. I am married, have 2 grown boys (one still in college) and 2 dogs. I read a ton, mostly any genre of romance but have been known to read just about anything for a challenge!

Can't wait to start this one!

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Hey teamies! Looking forward to starting. LaurLa - you and I are practically neighbors, lol. I live outside of Chicago in one of the many northwest suburbs. I have two grown children, a rescue dog and work full time in the healthcare field.

I read almost any genre including MM. Horror and historicals are not my favorite. As my children are college age I don't really like YA or NA. Feels too creepy to me - I'm sure it's a me thing, lol.

I didn't see anything about not being able to read books that I'm doing for other team challenges in other groups. If this is correct - I'm in a team challenge that starts every Friday in the MM group. I may be able to make 2 books work for us every week.

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Sorry - re reading the 'rules' and I already have a question :)

States the game starts on Monday Oct 24 but then goes on to state that a survey will be posted on Saturday. Does this mean next Saturday the 22 we need to look for the survey and then determine by Sunday what we will be starting to read on Monday? I thought we would get the survey on Mondays since that is the 'start' of the game.

Hopefully that made sense.

Melissa, I thought it would be nice to post the survey a couple of days before the start of each week to give folks time to decide which answer might score the highest and to find a book that fit the reading prompt.

So, yes, I'll post the survey early (Mountain Standard Time) Saturday mornings.

Thanks, Lanelle, sounds good and nice of you :)

Vi | 631 comments Hi everyone! Nice to meet you. I'm Vi, living in Netherlands. I have two young(er) kids, currently not working. This is my first team game - I went on a hiatus when I had my second child. I'm very excited to play.

I average about 1-2 books a week (depending). I read mostly romance and fantasy genres. Sometimes a mystery or thriller thrown in. But I'm good to try different genres to expand my reading horizon.

I'm looking forward to a great time with you all.

Brittany McCann (brittanylmccann) | 378 comments Hi everyone! Challenge Obsessed Bibliophile Brittany here.

I read from pretty much any genre but prefer speculative fiction, psych thriller, epic historical fiction, and true crime.

I have somehow surpassed 300 books this year, but mostly because I listen at work and in the car.

I am a mother of a 6th grader and 2 dogs and 2 cats. 1 of each was a stray that I never intended to keep.

Week 1's survey has been posted in the Survey Says thread. Have fun deciding which answer might score the highest points.

Family members can read for the same answer.

message 14: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments I will more than likely read a book for the Stetson as it works for another team challenge this week. I'll try and see if I have something that will work for other options too. Not sure if we want to discuss in this thread which we think will get us the most points.

message 15: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3998 comments I personally think baseball or cowboy hat would be the most popular answer. But who knows, I'm usually surprised by the answers on the actual show.

TWO REMINDERS
1. We can not start reading our books until Monday 12:01 AM (your time)
2. We will need an actual Selection post with the answer/task you're going to read for and your book - these are due by Sunday night. There us a sample post in Msg 1.

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments LaurLa wrote: "I personally think baseball or cowboy hat would be the most popular answer. But who knows, I'm usually surprised by the answers on the actual show."

This was my thought as well. When I know for sure what I will go with I'll do my Selection Post tomorrow

message 17: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 794 comments Fun options. I have books that will work for either baseball or cowboy or others. I'm not quite sure of the best strategy.

I will edit my first post to use to track our points. Excited for the game to officially start on Monday.

Brittany McCann (brittanylmccann) | 378 comments Name a kind of hat.
Baseball - read a book with an author's name that has double letters (Sally, Emmett, Briggs, Woolf)
Beret - read a book with a 5 word title (includes articles)
Cowboy/Stetson - read a book where the main character rides a horse
Derby - read a book within 24 hours (the Kentucky Derby is fast!)
Easter Bonnet - read a book set during the springtime
Fedora - read a book by a male author
Panama - read a book with the word "canal" in the text of the book
Straw - read a book where the mc spends a lot of time outdoors
Top - read the first book of a series

LaurLa | 3998 comments Brittany wrote: "Are we reading for different answers or the same?"

I think we should each read for the answer we think is the best or top answer and/or what task we can easily find a book for. I don't think the tasks are terribly hard (at least not this week) but I don't want to assume everyone can read for a specific task either.

That may not be the best strategically, but I think it's fair to everyone. Also, it would be hard to guess the highest answer each week so could hinder our points if we all read for one that ended up really low.
