What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I remember reading this in high school but not the exact year. The main character was a boy with some sort of journal (I don't remember if it was a dream journal or not). He would write (or draw) in it and slowly realized these things began happening in real life. There was a sense of urgency when strange men started to appear and began following him. I don't remember what happened after that. I know at that time, the cover of the book looked like notebook paper and had doodles or words on it surrounding the title.

It’s been so long I’m having a hard time remembering specific things that he had put in the journal. The men who started following him were in suits, described in a way that gave off the vibe of secret service agents or Men in Black, something along those lines.
