Tryanti Tia My first impression of reading the few pages of the beginning was so confusing and add that I am not the biggest fan of the comic or graphic novel book. However, I love the fairytale part of this book as it resonates with me, trying so hard to learn English by reading a Cinderella story. The story reminds me of my friend, an immigrant who struggles with his identity. Reading the story of Magic Fish, I think the story is clearly for a young adult reader as it features teen characters representing the idea that YA is coming of age.

This book has beautiful illustrations with different colors of background associated with different periods. I think the Magic happens on every page as the illustration and the story are so beautiful. I also admire the author, who is also the illustrator of the book. Having the freedom of expression, the author can express his creativity and his story ideas, or at least he knows what appropriate illustration he needs that fits his story.

Unlike other fairytales that has happily ever after ending, the Magic Fish is a beautiful story that, no matter what, we can all have our own happy endings. I love the illustration of princesses dancing the night away in the arms of princes, full of Magic. The picture of blood and descriptions of violence in the fairy tale reminds me of typical old fairy tales with a small amount of violence. Overall, I rate this story 4 out of 5.
