I began rereading this duirng the fall readathon when it was mentioned in ( Frostfire). Just finished it. I have read it several times throughout my life and have enjoyed it⭐️⭐️⭐️

I put my short story collection in the genre it covers - horror
The Woman on the Island. Although it's part of the Vera Stanhope crime series, as a short story it doesn't really fit in that category as is more of a character thing.
The author called them novellas so not sure if they’re short enough to qualify here
