Lya gasped in awe. Plans for a shoelace tying machine to a radio system and everything in between lined the walls like wallpaper, while gadgets of every shape and size littered workbenches and the floor. But the crowning glory was the full-size bronze dragon standing still in the middle of the room. "Festus!" Lya said, running towards him.
Adaliah looked around the room. It was covered in cobwebs and old rusty scraps of metal. On the walls hung a few pictures of a brown-haired boy with almond-colored eyes, grinning widely at the camera. He was with six other people, all of whom looked like the seven heroes of the prophecy. "This must be Leo." She pointed to the boy. "And they must be..." She trailed off recounting their names. "Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Hazel, and Frank." In the corner was a picture of Leo with another boy. He had black hair and dark brown eyes. He wore a skull ring on one of his fingers and had dark eyebags underneath his eyes. Adaliah gasped. "That must be Nico di Angelo... he's my brother." She whispered.
Lya wasn't listening. "Cool," she muttered. She was walking around Festus. She clambered on top of him and grinned. "This is so cool!" There were gaps in the spikes down his neck, perfect for riders. She dug around a little more and found safety straps.
Liah snapped out of her daze when she heard Festus groan and creak. She was a bit scared of dragons. Yes, she wasn't scared of zombies and skeletons, but here she was cowering in fear because of some metal shaped like a giant reptile. "Um, Lya, I-I don't think that's safe." She squeaked.
Lya was checking out the wings. "Come here and look at this!" she crowed, not hearing a word Liah said. She was perched on the dragon's left wing. "It's amazing!"
"Lya, I really think you shouldn't be playing around..." Fear crept into Liah's voice. "I-I think we should call Nemo to -" Suddenly, the dragon's eyes glowed bright yellow, and it made a creaking sound as if it had just awoken from a long slumber. Adaliah shrieked and hid behind a table. Real heroic.
Lya stumbled. "What's going o-AHHHHHHHHHH!" Her feet slipped from underneath her and she fell through the air. Control the wind, she thought, trying to focus. The ground was only 50 feet away. She yelped, trying to control it, but it was no use, so she'd have to resort to using her weakest power. She summoned water from the nearby creek and it cushioned her as she dropped the last few feet. She sprang back up. "I'm fine!"
"Lyana!" Adaliah stumbled out of her hiding place to help her. "I told you to be careful!" She was furious at Lya for being so childish when there was a certain spring goddess that needed to be saved or else the whole world would be doomed.
Lya slouched. "Sorry! I didn't know that he would randomly wake up. Besides, I'm fine." She pointed to the orb of water. She felt guilty... but she had just wanted to see the famous Festus.
((I have to go to bed soon tho... :( sadly))
Nemo bust in the room. "Hey guys! Party at my cabin and I wasn't invited?" He glanced at Festus and sighed. "Sorry about him. He's always so grumpy when he wakes up from a nap." He turned to the creaky dragon. "Hey bud! Want some of that oil and tabasco saucey drink I made earlier?" A series of clicks and creaks followed. Nemo grinned and grabbed a bucket of sloshy oil and tabasco sauce in the corner. "I'll take that as a yes." The dragon happily slurped that up. Nemo wiped his grimy hands on his shirt and turned to the two girls. "So what can I help you two with?"
Adaliah stood frozen, staring at Nemo in amazement and disbelief. After a minute or so, she recollected herself and regained the ability to speak. "Y-you know that dr-dragon?" She stuttered. "Also what's the thing with your cabin? Last time I checked, it belonged to Leo Valdez..."
"Valdez told me that I was allowed to use it and stuff blah blah blah take care of it and that stuff. My bro's super cool too." Nemo's eyes twinkled with admiration. Just thinking about Leo got him excited. His brother was amazing and his favorite brother not that he was gonna tell anyone of course.
Nemo looked to Festus who was just finishing his drink. "Valdez also told me to look after Festus for him while he's busy. Not sure when he's coming back but I've been getting quality time with my best bud."
"Nemo," Liah breathed. "Do you understand how big of an honor this is?" Her brownish-blue eyes twinkled with excitement. "One of the freaking seven heroes of the prophecy, basically appointed you the successor to one of his most prized areas and," She eyed Festus nervously. "friendly metal dragons."
Festus coughed right on cue. Fire shot out of his mouth melting his bucket to a molten pile of gloop right at Nemo's feet. "You don't know how lucky I even am." Nemo replied to Liah's comment. "Oh and lucky for not getting burnt to a crisp just now."
Liah gasped and screamed in terror as Festus' flames melted the bucket. "Okay, I knew we'd be riding a metal dragon to save Persephone, but I didn't know that that monster could breathe fire, as well!" She glared at Festus with a mix of fear, hesitance and shock.
Lya had been behind Festus's wing the whole time, examining him. "Oh, hi Nemo!" she said, waving. "Sup."
"Sup." He said to Lya before shrugging to Liah. "Yeah Valdez works really well with Festus cause he's inflammable and as you can see our little bud here can breathe fire sooo just watch out for it. Think I need to clean out his filter in there. It might've gotten clogged in the shaft."
"Yeah, I got that. He turned on when I was climbing his wing." She shrugged. "I caught myself. No need to worry." She admired the bronze creation. "He's beautiful."
"How are you guys so calm about this?" Liah gawked at them in disbelief. "Like we have a freaking reptile made of metal scraps that is supposedly going to take us to Alaska and back, and you guys aren't concerned about him at all? "
"Nope," Lya said, patting Festus's leg. She ducked the fire that he spat out. "Oops." She shrugged. "It'll be awesome!"
"You and I have very different ideas about awesome. " Adaliah replied coldly, not forgetting the argument she and Lyana had earlier about Lya goofing off during important moments.
Lya sighed. "Fine, I won't like actually do anything till we have to, but remember, today is our last day at camp. We only have a week."

Liah nodded. "Yes, and by the looks of it, we should head off latest by tomorrow morning." She bit her lip, deep in thought as a strand of hair fell onto her face. "So that gives us approximately a couple of hours to pack, discuss the plan and upgrade the dragon up a bit."
"Yep. You and I should start packing and discussing the plan while Nemo spruces the dragon up," Lya said, nodding. "We'll leave you to it," she told Nemo and walked out with Liah.
"Bye Nemo," Liah mumbled, closing the door behind her. She jogged up to Lya, who was making her way to the Hades Cabin.
((Should we switch back to the Hades Cabin?))
((Should we switch back to the Hades Cabin?))
((But I have to go to school soon))
Nemo got Festus all set up. "We're going on a quest buddy! I know you've been around the world and back but this is my first one. You've been to Alaska it's where no gods have power." He said grimly as he tightened a joint in Festus plates. Festus made some creaks. Nemo understood perfectly maybe a little too perfectly. "Wow quite the experience you had with them." Nemo thought about Jason, Piper, and Leo. One of the seven. Wow.
((Welp! What about a couple of days ago? I guess before all that capture the flag game. I remember Nemo said that he'd notice Adaliah more? Because they'd spent a little time together. But he still hadn't known her name until capture the flag. I'm not sure where they would meet though))
((What an interesting idea! I think they could meet perhaps at the strawberry fields during late noon? Liah usually spends some alone time there, so that means Nemo can also join her and they could talk for a bit before they actually meet meet.))
Lya arrived at Bunker Nine with her backpack and leaned against Festus. "We're going on a trip," she said. "You ready?" Festus made creaks and squeaks. "I don't know what that means, but I'm assuming you're excited." She grinned.
