Lark & Kasim Start a Revolution is an excellent YA title that follows the lives of a group of (mostly) nonbinary, POC teens. The voices ring true, and we need more representations of this community in literature on every level. My **** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Sleeping Car Porter blends historical fact with a bit of (what may be) magic to explore the endlessly demanding life of a Black, gay sleeping car porter working a trans-Canada train. This book is utterly original and deeply engaging. My ***** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Restless Truth is a follow-up to A Marvellous Light. I found A Restless Truth slightly less successful overall, but the series is so original and engaging that complaining would be like pouting over a three-star meal because one was hoping for a four-star meal. It's delicious and well-worth consuming. I particularly like that A Restless Truth had a more significant number of strong female characters than did A Marvellous Light. Dangerous magic in Edwardian England—what could be better? My ***** review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I enjoy reading a few books at a time; so I'll list down below;audiobook: After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Kindle: Crave by Tracey Wolff
Manga: Sweat and Soap #3
I may start another 1-2 for this month as I am able to finish 2 of these very early in the month.
I'm reading In Light's Shadow: A Fairy Tale by Warren Rochelle. Set in an alternate US where magic and homosexuality are illegal. Magic beasts like unicorns are kept in zoos, Witches and fairies as well as gay people are executed immediately.
Starting Hawk Mountain by Conner Habib, about a single father at the beach with his son when they are approached by a man the father recognizes as the person who bullied him as a youngster. The man seems to want to hang out.
Currently reading Invisible women by Caroline Criado-Perez which is not usually the genre i read but oh well it's good.
Reading Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York by Elon Green as I'm curious to see if there's any connection with the tv series American Horror Story:NYC set in the city during the same time period
Just finished Siren Queen. It was really good! Lesbians, asian representation, magical realism, and old Hollywood if that interests anyone.
Currently reading the oleander sword by Tasha Suri, a sequel in a sapphic fantasy series. First book was incredibly and enjoying it so far! Also just finished the bullet that missed by Richard Osman which has one of the best audios I’ve ever heard (for all 3 in the series).
Appropriately ‘Bi: the hidden culture, history and science of bisexuality’ by Julia Shaw. Almost finished. Good read
I'm reading Under the Rainbow by Celia Laskey. Just finished Devil's Chew Toy by Rob Osler...a cute LGBT mystery set in my hometown (Seattle).
Currently reading
The New Life by Tom Crewe. It's an upcoming release for January 2023 and I love it so far. Was not expecting LGBTQ historical fiction to get this...spicy. 🔥
i recently finished The Song of Achilles and Circe (I highly recommend both) and am looking forward to reading Ariadne by Jennifer Saint
i've just started to read Babel, Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators’ Revolution, so far so good!!
