Zina (dr_zina) | 296 comments So not much of info here, but I am super excited. Melanie R. Anderson with Lisa Kröger presented their new book, Toil and Trouble: A Women’s History of the Occult at Delta State University today. It was a fun conversation. They were talking about all these fun characters they are writing about. Dr. Anderson is an Associate Professor of English at DSU. The book was sparked when they noticed a movement of witches to put a hex on the then President of the US, and thought about how our society moved from Salem trials to women freely announcing they are witches.

Dan | 1611 comments She certainly is involved with some projects of great interest to me, the chief exception to that being the two books on Shirley Jackson. I've never been able to understand Jackson's appeal other than that she writes short books in short, easy to read sentences. The unreviewed Poe and Women: Recognition and Revision looks particularly intriguing. I've no intention of pre-ordering the hardback for $100, but I'll be on the lookout for it when it's published in a few months.
