Lindsey has some baggage, sure, Mark has baggage too. I think it was all a bunch of hooey and Mark was protecting himself, not her.
It was clear that they both had issues they needed to reconcile.Mark wasn't wrong as his words lead to Lindsey coming to important realizations. Nevertheless, it was definitely the wrong time and place.
While Lindsey needed to hear the insights, Mark used the words as a weapon and it ended up being hurtful. This was a conversation they should have had when emotions weren’t riding high. She trusted him when she shared this personal information. Mark abused that trust.
I didn't see Mark's comments as abusing Lindsey's trust. I thought that he was trying to make her see the baggage that she is lugging around which prevented her from finding happiness. He didn't make up anything. He let her hear her own words. Yes it did hurt, but she needed to own her feelings and work through it.
It was how he said them…in anger and to justify his own point of view, not to help her in any meaningful way. He kept going even after he saw the impact. That’s what I meant by as a weapon. The words were the truth but he used them for himself, not her. At least that’s how it felt to me.
