Izzy is not known for his ability to be discerning where women are concerned. This is one scene that I remembered from the first time I read this book, so I did see it coming. Izzy has a tender heart, despite is outward bravado, and Tracy is going to hurt him.
I forgot all about this scene from my previous reading of this book. I wasn't too surprised that Tracy and Izzy had sex in the car at her request. But I was surprised that she suddenly thought she and Izzy were now a couple.
Not Izzy's brightest move and I do not see them as a couple in the long term. Tracey's reaction was excessive - she had such a strong need to be loved that she was willing to grasp on to any indication of it and even sell herself short.
I remembered it from my first time but it still came out of nowhere. Izzy felt terrible that she’d misinterpreted his words and after she was abducted, he was inconsolable. This has bonded him to her in a very strange way because he feels she became vulnerable to that serial killer because of him.
