BlueRavar | 1 comments A pulpy wise cracking buddy space opera. Starting with Columbus Day you get the full list of sci-fi gimmicks such as techno-babble, ftl and wormholes, monster of the week (kinda), every weapon you can think of and a few space elves to name a few. I realize that may sound awful but Craig Alamein pulls it together nicely. I like how Craig straight up admits when he’s hand waving reality with a “your mushy monkey brain simply can’t comprehend how this works”

Chris (chrismarch) | 7 comments I just finished the first book, after seeing it in George Wells’ list in the main SF thread here. My library system doesn’t carry any of his books. I found it annoying that I needed to sign up for Kindle Unlimited to read it, as I had previously found the selection limited, but I gave it 4/5.
Here is my review:

Lighthearted SF, that can be a bit rough around the edges, but it gets better about half way through. I’d recommend to fans of the Bobiverse series, or maybe those interested in novels that sort of read like an episode of Orville, or the Starship Troopers movie.

Steve Martini | 1 comments This series is very enjoyable. I listened to the audio Books from audible and the narrator really made the characters come alive for me. 8/10

Chris (chrismarch) | 7 comments I found the first book very entertaining. I thought the second book was a bit of a slog though, in terms of pacing. I read the start of the third book and it seemed the pace was going to be similar to the second book in pace, so I abandoned the series.

George Wells | 3 comments i like the series well enough, especially the audio books, but it needs to be edited down and cut a few books worth of content out to speed up the pace.

the lore of the universe was pretty interesting imo just needed some work to be a good series vs being a endless series of books that end up a bit forgettable in terms of details.

The suggestion sounds good, but I wonder if people want to hear me chewing away at 16 books over half a year.
