Play Book Tag discussion

In the next in this series, Maisie is investigating the death of an American journalist during the Blitz whose murder is being kept quiet by the British authorities who approach Maisie to ask for her help in the case. Whilst working on this case, Maisie realises just how much danger she can be put in whilst doing her job, and the detrimental impact this could have on her hopes of adopting Anna, the evacuee she has grown to love. This was an intriguing mystery and very well written with lots of plot twists and turns that made me kept guessing. It also showed how people during WW2 kept going when all seemed hopeless, and I really like how the author allows her characters to experience, and then portrays, the ups and downs of their lives.

I really like this series too. There are two more that have been published that I will read by the end of the year. I really hope Winspear is going to continue writing this series as the book she is due to publish next year a standalone book, though it could potentially be the start of a new series.
