(Original post: https://www.tumblr.com/thejesusfandom...)The question: Abortion is an enforcement of bodily autonomy.
The fetus has no right to be inside me, so I have a right to remove it by any means necessary.
My answer: Hi! So, to be sure we're on the same page, I decided to look up the meaning of "bodily autonomy" in the dictionary. Sadly, neither Cambridge nor Merriam-Webster actually had a definition for the phrase, so I went with looking up the meaning of "autonomy".
Cambridge: "the ability to make your own decisions without being controlled by anyone else"
Merriam-Webster: "self-directing freedom and especially moral independence"
So, bodily autonomy means you are the only one allowed to decide what happens to your body.
Now, why do I believe you still cannot perform an abortion?
First of all, you say you may "remove it [the fetus] by any means necessary". This is a euphemism. You are not simply "removing" the fetus.
If it's in the first trimester, you either starve it to death with the abortion pill and then only give birth to the dead baby 24-48 hours later:
https://www.abortionprocedures.com/ab...
Or you get a suction and curettage, which vacuums the baby out, then scrapes out any remains afterwards:
https://www.abortionprocedures.com/as...
If it's in the second trimester, you get a D&E abortion, which uses a clamp to tear the baby apart, after which the doctor reassembles all of the parts to make sure nothing is left behind inside the mother:
https://www.abortionprocedures.com/
So, you are not just "removing" the baby, you are actively killing it.
But alright, your point is that the baby is infringing on your rights.
I'm going to use an example here, so bear with me. If a robber breaks into your house, you are allowed to remove them from your property (by any means necessary, depending on where you live). This is fair, since they are breaking into your property. However, now imagine that you kidnap someone and place them in your garage. They are on your property. However, since they are not there by choice but rather by force, it would be wrong to shoot them.
This is like a pregnancy: yes, if the baby made a conscious choice to start growing inside of you, you would be allowed to kill them. But they are not there through any fault of their own. In fact, in most of the cases, they are there because the mother had consensual sex. The mother put them there, and now the baby is dependent on the mother to live. They did not ask for that.
Alright, so how about rape? Well, now imagine somebody else kidnaps somebody and puts them in your garage. Yes, now it's not your fault either, and you are a victim as well, but that still doesn't make it right to shoot the trespasser.
So in the case of rape, while it is not your own fault that you now have a baby inside of you, it is also not the baby's fault. If anyone should be killed, it should be the rapist.
So no, the baby should not be killed for infringing on your rights. In most cases, the mother literally made the baby herself. In other cases, while a tragedy has occurred, the baby is still not the one at fault and has been made dependent on the mother through no choice of its own.
Another point that it would be good to make is that while, yes, you are the only person who can decide what to do with your body, we already have quite a few laws that govern what things you can't do. For example, you may not drive while drunk. So abortion bans would not be the first rule that dictates what you may do with your body. Our laws give you the freedom to do what you want, until you hurt someone else.
And, of course, we need to take the baby's right to life into account. The baby is a living human, and therefore has the right to life. That is the fundamental right. If we cannot even guarantee that all people in our society can go through their day without being killed, then there is no way we can guarantee any of the other rights, including bodily autonomy.
Feel free to tell me any other questions you have!

(Original post: https://www.tumblr.com/thejesusfandom...)The question: if it wouldn't be impolite, why exactly are you prolife? some people get pregnant against their own will, or will literally die when giving birth, simply because their bodies are not able. i dont know much about this kind of stuff, but my mum tells me that what a woman chooses to do with her body is nobodies choice but her own. thank you!
My answer: Hi there! Don't worry, it's not impolite to ask someone questions about what they believe :-). In fact, I am openly advocating against abortion, so I should be able to answer questions about it!
The reason I am prolife is because I believe these 4 things:
The unborn baby is a human.
The unborn baby is alive.
It is wrong to kill a human.
Abortion kills the baby.
Therefore, abortion is wrong, since it kills a human.
You mention two reasons why abortion should be allowed
The woman is pregnant against her will.
This is can be very unfortunate, and the woman should get the help and attention she deserves. There are many organisations that offer money, clothes, food, advice, medicine, medical attention, etc. to mothers who got pregnant and need help to raise the baby.
In the end, we need to realise that the mother already has a baby inside of her. Killing that baby would be wrong. There are other solutions: [1] she can get the help I mentioned earlier, [2] she can keep the baby and reschedule how she does things (it is completely possible for her to continue on in her career or education; many women have done it, and there is help if it gets too hard), [3] she can put the baby up for adoption. The baby will not go into foster care, but will be adopted directly through an agency. The mother can even have a say in what kind of family the baby ends up.
The mother may die.
An abortion is actually never necessary to save the mother. The Dublin Declaration (http://www.dublindeclaration.com/) has 1000+ signatures from experts and states:
"As experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics and gynaecology, we affirm that direct abortion – the purposeful destruction of the unborn child – is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman.
We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother, even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child.
We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women."
What this means is this:
If the mother's life is in danger, there are certain medical procedures that are done to save the mother's life. The baby may die because of these, but that is never the intended effect. The doctors will do all they can to make sure the baby lives.
Abortions are not meant to help any illness, but rather to kill the baby. The doctors will do all they can to make sure the baby dies.
You can watch these interviews with a former abortionist who explains the hard cases:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysl1t...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FntbJ...
To be clear: I do actually agree with your mother that a woman can do what she wants with her body. In fact, if tomorrow they decide to make it possible to get a tattoo on your uterus, I will not be campaigning against it. Do what you want with your body! That's your choice. You can drink what you want, eat what you want, wear what you want, get piercings, tattoos, whatever. That's your choice and I'm not going to stop you.
The difference is this: when a woman has an abortion, she is not just doing something to her body. She is also doing something to the body of the baby inside her. That is another person that is being hurt by her decision, and that is not okay. You can punch walls all you want, but you can't punch a child. You can do with your body what you want, but you can't kill a baby.
You're actually the first person to send me an ask about abortion without being angry or rude, so thanks! Feel free to ask any questions you may have :-)
God bless,
-JF
JF, your arguments are so well made, I love how respectful you are and how you very clearly get your point across without insulting people. And I literally never knew that an abortion isn’t even necessary to save the mother? That is an amazing argument that I will be using now, lol.
I recently got into a heated argument with a bunch of pro/abortion people on Pinterest, so I hurled my anger about how wrong they are into writing a giant pro-life argument. It contains my 3 MAIN arguments against abortion, and within those arguments there are plenty of other arguments lol, so enjoy my absurdly long pro-life contention essay:To abort a baby is by definition the “Induced termination of a pregnancy with destruction of the embryo or fetus.” That translates to, “the willful and intentional termination of a pregnancy by killing the embryo or fetus.”
Here are some arguments as to why abortion is WRONG. Always.
1. To abort a baby is to willfully and intentionally take away its life. It means to deprive a child of ever entering the world. The child -let’s name it, so you can understand that it is a human life- named Mireille (which means miracle), will never see the sun and feel the golden warmth of basking in its light. Mireille will never taste the sweetness of a strawberry perfectly ripe. Mireille will never feel the wonderful sensation of being underwater, of swimming in a pool, a pond, a lake, an ocean. Mireille will never laugh and smile with her friends. Mireille will never go to school, never take a test, never stress about homework, never play an instrument. Mireille will never listen to music, she will never hear the melodies and sub melodies, the voice of the singer soaring over the high notes, Mireille herself will never sing. Or talk. Mireille will never hold an animal, whether it’s a hamster, a guinea pig, a rabbit, a cat, a dog, a goat, a chicken, a bird, no matter what it is, it’s guaranteed that Mireille will never feel its soft fur, or stroke its beautiful and artful feathers. Mireille will never form an opinion, on anything. Mireille will never have an argument. Mireille will never have a dream. Mireille will never fall in love. She will never have a life. A purpose. A future. A hope. All because her mother “didn’t want her.”
2. Abortion distinctly goes against the basic DECENT human belief that life is important. That all life should be protected and preserved as best as we can. And the fact that at this point in the timescale of humanity, we were expected to be great beings who knew oh so much and were so wise, and here we are, in 2025 arguing about whether or not it’s okay to murder a baby inside the mothers womb. To quite Mother Teresa; “We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left for us but to kill each other.” And she is so right. How can we object to shootings, murders, wars, when mothers are “terminating” their own babies, just because they “don’t want them.” I do understand that there are three different circumstances in which abortion usually takes place. The first is you had sex, and either didn’t use protection, or it didn’t work. In that case: if you are willingly and knowingly having sex, odds are, you’re gonna get pregnant. That’s how it works. If you want to go and sleep with everyone and mess around, you better be prepared first the consequences! If you abort your own child because you “don’t want it” even though you were willingly doing the act in which conception occurs, then I guess you’re out of luck. There is no valid reasoning that would support you killing your own child (who shares half of your DNA, by the way) if you aren’t abstinent. The second reason women will abort their child is that they are a victim of sexual assault. Please do not think that I am not a deep sympathizer for rape victims. If you are a victim, then I am so, so sorry that ever happened to you, you did not deserve it, and it is not your fault. I have every hope that you can heal from that traumatic event in time. But -and I think this is the most controversial argument of abortion- I still cannot support the murder of the child. It is my staunch opinion that the child has done nothing wrong, and therefore does not in any way deserve to suffer (die) from the choice of the father (also, a little tidbit here, I do strongly believe that all rapists deserve to not be alive). The child is completely innocent in regards to its father being an awful man. The child doesn’t know the circumstances in which it was conceived, she’s just trying to survive! She’s inside of her mother, growing and developing, completely unknowing of what is to come, while her mother drives to a hospital to end the life of the child. And then suddenly, the child is no more. Cut to pieces and vacuumed out of her mother’s womb. Dead. Without ever living a single moment in this great and terrible world of ours. I completely understand why some women who are the victims of rape want to abort their child. Certainly they don’t want a constant reminder of that awful thing that happened to them. And I understand that completely. I sympathize with that, and therefore here is my own verdict: if you are the victim of rape, and you become pregnant from this attack, then I can only implore you to keep the child. Nothing with be gained for you to kill your child, who, yes, is also the child of your attacker. It certainly won’t affect the man who did this to you. I guarantee he doesn’t care one bit what you do to his child. So I can only ask you to keep the child. Keep it in defiance if you need to, that he can’t make you resort to murder. He doesn’t have that power over you, whoever he is. Or, keep the child because it’s a child. Once it is born, it will grow, learn, walk, talk, sing, eat, dance, swim, run, play, and do all the things that children are meant to do. And all I can say is if you keep the baby, then you are absolutely brave. One of the bravest women in the world, I’d say. And I commend you for it. The third reason why women will abort is for the health of the mother. This argument is completely bust, because it has been proved that abortion is never actually necessary to save the life of the mother. There are other ways to get the baby out. Ways that give it a chance at life. And the mother lives. I won’t even dive deeper into this argument, simply because it is completely and utterly irrelevant and inaccurate.
3. Every argument I have ever, EVER heard in support of abortion, had been absolutely absurd. There is never any solid reasoning. You can tell there has been no research done, it’s just a bunch of jumbled thoughts and opinions that make no sense. One argument I recently heard was that the fetus is “not alive until it is 5 weeks old.” I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I read that! That is completely ridiculous, and I’m quite positive that the person who said that was like 13 years old and hadn’t taken Biology or Sex Education (health class) yet. I simply do not understand how the grasp of how life works can be so unreached amongst pro-abortion people. Let me break it down: there are 7 main factors that determine whether or not something is alive. The fetus of a human baby displays every single one of these factors from conception onwards. 1. Growth. This one is a dead giveaway, because the zygote starts growing immediately (within the first day or so) after fertilization. 2. Reproduction. The cells of the zygote start to divide and develop right after conception. This is a form of reproduction. 3. Response to Stimuli. Have you heard of fetal alcohol syndrome? If the mother is drinking while pregnant, there can be some serious problems with the baby once born. Fetal Alcohol syndrome can affect the fetus at any stage of pregnancy. This is an example of a fetus responding to stimuli. Another example is when the fetus begins to move in response to different sound it hears, such as its mother’s voice. 4. Metabolism. A fetus will adapt its metabolic responses based off of the nutrients it receives, which helps to ensure its proper development. This is an example of a fetus using metabolism. 5. Homeostasis. Homeostasis, which is the ability to maintain stable interval conditions, is also kind of a dead giveaway. The baby has to maintain stable conditions in order to develop correctly. 6. Cellular Organization. Yet another obvious one. The child’s cells start to separate and take on special functions almost immediately after fertilization. The zygote will divide and form very distinct structures that will eventually become organs and systems in its body. 7. Adaption. The entire formation of the baby is a form of adaption, because it is evolving itself to be able to live in the world outside of its mother’s womb. I have clearly listed and explained how it is that the baby is fully and entirely alive from conception onward, and if you still believe that the baby is not alive from the earliest stage onwards, then I’m afraid you are quite past help. Another argument I hear most commonly, is “my body, my choice.” *sigh* That is so wrong. I just genuinely cannot begin to understand how people think that the living human growing inside of the mother is a part of her body. Because it is not. Yes, their bodies are interconnected at the moment, and attached by the umbilical cord, but that does not mean it is the mother’s body. This is a separate body. A separate heartbeat. A separate brain. So this argument is completely pointless, and honestly? It’s completely asinine. I also very commonly get people saying that Religion shouldn’t have a place in abortion arguments. Which honestly, I don’t have an opinion on that. Because religion or not, my opinion will always and steadfastly be that abortion is wrong. Although religion is a back-up to my staunch beliefs on the matter, religion is not the sole reason why I am against the murder of babies. I would have this opinion even if I weren’t a Christian, because it’s an opinion that basic humanity demands. I cannot grasp for ever one second how people can support abortion. And also, here’s something to think about, if you think it’s okay to kill a baby in its 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, or even 9th (*cough* *cough* KAMALA HARRIS *cough*) month, then what is to stop the pro-abortion advocates from supporting infanticide (the intentional killing of infants)? And, prepare to be disgusted, some far left pro-abortion people DO support infanticide. Kamala Harrison (Democratic Presidential Candidate 2024 election) herself voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which “mandated that infants surviving a botched abortion be provided the same level of care as other infants born at the same gestational age.” (Bohlken, 2024) Kamala voting against this act is the same as her openly advocating for infants who survived an abortion to simply be discarded of. One way of “getting rid” of newborn survivors of abortions is it just leave the child in a room or hallway or wherever of the hospital, and let it cry itself to death. It wouldn’t get fed. It wouldn’t get cared for. This is the kind of SICK, dastardly and malicious stuff we are dealing with from the left in America. This is revolting.
In conclusion, abortion is wrong, and I have made some VERY valid and accurate points and claims against abortion. If you are pro-abortion, I beg you to please review the points I have made, and try, TRY to see how disturbing abortion really is.
