I just signed up but I see that there hasn't been a new post since 2017. That's upsetting, there are so many good photography books out there which I'd love to discuss with others. Please let me know that I'm not alone!

Hi there Don! Thanks for introducing yourself.
As for the status of the group... well the founding moderator who started the group in 2009 has left us this year. I' ve been trying to keep it alive by posting every day in the Pic of the day thread.
That get's about an average of 20 viewers and some comments.
As of this moment the group has more than 2000 members of which about a dozen joined this month. But most of them are not active.
Your post here has gotten 8 views.
Sorry for the delay in commenting but I live in a different time zone (Antwerp, Belgium) So an answer can sometimes take a while.

I'm also interested in photography (studied it as part of my Graphics Arts education) and posted last March a whole month dedicated to famous photographers in the Pic o/t Day thread.
But you're welcome to join in and post some stuff about photography!
And let's hope you get some reaction.
I can certainly use some help to keep the group alive.

Thanks for replying!! I didn't see the pic of the day thread. It looked like nothing new had been posted since 2017. I guess if it's an ongoing thread that's why. That's great to know, thanks!

Click on Discussions on the upper right of this page and you can see all the active threads. It's a great group to follow.

I did that and sorted for newest and for some reason everything that showed up for me was from 2017. It's odd because it now shows stuff from 2019 and 2020 etc.

Hi Don! I want to just add a comment. It’s sad news I’m afraid. Our one member who was a famous photographer, who posted every day, I unfortunately think he passed away. I miss him and I’m pretty sure some of our regulars miss him, too.

Does anyone have the same impression of Geoffrey? May he rest in peace.

That's very sad indeed. I'm not very famous but I do love photography and photography books. I'll post some of my favorite recent acquisitions and books I'm excited to read soon.
