Here is my sort-of review/sort-of keeping characters in line for my own bad memory.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A few of us will be buddy-reading the rest of the series starting in February. If you want to join, sign up in this thread
Here's my review and you'll see that although I liked it, it isn't something I'd read twice, although I did read the second book in the series :)https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
What a fun book! It reminded me of several "found family" stories I've loved before and it made me happy.HERE is my review! 4 Stars!
This book manages to combine a light touch which makes it easy to read with a thought provoking exploration of a range of complex issues without ever losing the flow of the story. Quite an achievement. I bought into this fantasy world very easily and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
If I hadn't just reread this book in June, I would be belatedly joining you for the Group Read. I will definitely join in the upcoming Buddy Reads.I'm a big fan of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and of science fiction in general - and fantasy, for that matter. The world building is important, but the heart of the truly successful SF novel is the people and their relationships. And The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is all about people and relationships.
This book was awesome! I got about 75% done with the audiobook before my loan ran out and it was a 14 week wait to recheck it out. So I went to the library this morning to get the physical copy of the book. I devoured the rest of the book when I got home. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I think I'll likely go back to audiobooks for those as well, but it was nice that I already had speaking cadences in my head for the last of this book.
Couldn't finish this before the end of the year, but I loved this book!!!! Writing was really good, plot was connected, and characters were created well (and I loved all of them)! Sigh, I want to be a member of this crew! “There are few things as unsettling as a lack of control in an unfamiliar situation.” This is a book about good people trying their best, being kind, and loving each other through difficult things. Definitely recommend! 5 stars
I finally got around to finishing it!
