Don Orkoskey | 5 comments Marc Wilson's haunting book on the locations of atrocities committed during WWII and the people who witnessed them is a must have for anyone who loves photography's ability to document our world and the people in it. There have been millions of words written about the NAZIs and the horrors of WWII but to see the scars that seem to be tearing open again, less than 100 years later is a stark reminder that history can be repeated and how much we need to do to fight against that very thing. I bought Marc's book when it was a Kickstarter project and I'm so happy that I did. This is a book that I will treasure and that sits at a location on my shelf where the title is clear in every virtual class I teach or zoom meeting I'm in. It's prominently displayed for any visitor to my home as well. I highly recommend that anyone interested in the power of documentary photography buys this book or asks their local library to invest in a copy.

Sounds like a very interesting book with photography of the real-life 'scars' as you say it (am I understanding your interpretation right?) I have always been fascinated with photographs taken of those kind of sites and the photos catch what the eye can't see. As in perhaps, 'ghost photography'.

Does this book cover any of that? I'm positive there are probably spirits in places like the Concentration camps...

I found a BBC documentary on that very thing. I'll post it in a different thread as not to detract from your thread here.

But thank you for that recommendation and intriguing review!
