Hi, friends! Thank you for playing along as we explored some quarterly challenges for the first time.

I would love your thoughts on the challenges we had in this section during 2022. I'll list their titles below for reference, as it's been a while since we did some of them. If you need to revisit any of them as reminders, if they're not still in the Quarterly folder, they have been moved to the 2022 reading challenges archive.

Are there any challenges you found too easy? to difficult?

Are there any you would like to see again? think we should take a break from?

Are there any new ideas you'd like to see in the Quarterly section next year?

Thank you!

2022 Quarterly Challenges
USA Regional Tour
Animal Kingdom
Ways to Travel
Furnish the House

Beth (canadianbeth) | 248 comments I only did the USA Regional Tour. Unfortunately, I was unable to read all the books in the specific areas during the months given, although I have done almost all 50 states. I made my own 50-states list.

Oh, I'm sorry. I misread that. You're very close! Do you have your books picked out for those last few states?

Katrina Lybbert | 894 comments I liked the Animal Kingdom challenge the best.

I was wondering if we could have a quarterly challenge where we have to spell out words where we read books that begin with each letter (either the title or author name).

Thank you, Katrina. I've made note of that idea.

I LOVED the USA Regional Tour!! I finished the states for the first three quarters and hope to finish this final quarter as well. I don't think I would have accomplished this with an annual approach. I wasn't one who participated in the USA annual thread previously.

It's been suggested that there be a seasonal challenge added here. Another suggestion has been a military challenge that's quarterly. Sharing those from the other challenge suggestion/feedback threads.

Thanks for all your work on these!

Thank you, Staci! I appreciate the tips on the seasonal and military challenges. I might just be working up something... ;)

Aw, I'm so happy that you jumped in on a challenge (the USA Regional Tour) that you don't typically do. That's fantastic!

Sarita | 2302 comments The one I was most successful at and loved the most was the USA Regional Tour.

The others I did participate it, but due to own management, didn't keep great record on what I've read.

Other quarterly challenged, maybe similar to the book pyramid and TBR crusher challenges, but just quarterly.

Also, maybe a quarterly suspense author or book challenge - one quarter could be list of suspense authors, another maybe job titles or something in that line.

Idea for the state quarterly challenge...group by order in which they became states. For first quarter the first 13 territories to become states and so on. Another idea would be to group by alphabetical order with states starting with A-F(?) for first quarter.

Thank you, Staci!

message 14: by Bonny (new)

Bonny (bonnybonnybeth) | 673 comments I liked the USA Regional Tour as a Quarterly challenge! I also think it would be great to do Around the World as a quarterly challenge - focusing on Europe one quarter, African another quarter, Asia/Australia another quarter, and the Americas the fourth quarter. (I know I'm posting this way too late, but just figured I'd share my idea!)

I like your suggestion Bonny! Something to consider for 2024.
