♞ Pat Gent #5 ~ Cover with only title and author's name ...

Does this one work?

message 3: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments I would say the braided scatter rug background defeats the purpose. Whoever spent hours braiding that rug would probably not call it nothing.

How about this one for the Name and Title only (some other words there, but no decoration).

Yes, I'll accept it.

message 10: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 4655 comments So color variations are ok for title/author name only as long as it isn't an actual thing, correct?
So this one should work?
Until We Reckon Violence, Mass Incarceration, and a Road to Repair by Danielle Sered

message 11: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments Yes, that one will work.

message 12: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1619 comments I own the three following books. Would any of these work for the task:
Read a book where the cover has only the title and author's name?
1. Hornet's Nest (Andy Brazil, #1) by Patricia Cornwell 2. Cause Of Death (Kay Scarpetta, #7) by Patricia Cornwell 3. Flash and Bones by Kathy Reichs

Thanks.

message 13: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments Only the 2nd one would work. The first has a bee and and graphic squiggle. The last is an ocean landscape.

Katrisa | 4655 comments Would The Fireman work for MC is a fireman? From the description he dresses like a fireman and battles the combustion disease but I don't think he works for a fire department

message 16: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments He's a fireman. An interesting take on a fireman, but he is.

Margo | 11814 comments Janice, would you accept Tuesday Mooney Wore Black by Kate Racculia for the task Read a book where the cover has only the title and author's name?

message 25: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19957 comments I just did a search for books without cover art on listopia and was able to find this list. I can not guarantee that all the books fit this challenge due to the nature of lists, but there should be some good options and it may help with the search so I thought I'd link it here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

I'm sorry Margo, but I see a person and a cat, amongst other things. Often the classics have what I'm looking for: Little Women
Little Women (Little Women #1) by Louisa May Alcott

message 27: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11814 comments Damn it, I as hoping you wouldn't notice the little people! LOL

Ho about White Teeth by Zadie Smith , or is it the only writing on the cover must be title and author?

message 28: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments I'm tricky, Margo. Yes, that book will work. Enjoy.

Jayme | 4877 comments For #5 ~ Cover with only title and author's name ...

The book I'm thinking of is My Moment 106 Women on Fighting for Themselves by Kristen Chenoweth It is a book of short stories written by different women which is why there are so many authors' names on the cover.. Will this book work?

message 30: by ♞ Pat (new)

♞ Pat Gent Joan Is Okay by Weike Wang

I've found one that I pulled a while back. Hoping it works, but that's what I hoped about my last one...so want to make sure this clears the approval stamp!!

message 37: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1619 comments 6. Read a book with Ed or Edward as a main character - or author.

Would Bertie And The Tinman (Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, #1) by Peter Lovesey Bertie And The Tinman or any other book from this Trilogy be accepted for this task.

The Main character is mentioned as Albert Edward, Prince of Wales who became King Edward VII later. The synopsis refers him as 'the future King Edward VII'.

Thanks.

Thanks for giving that as an example, Janice. I have a bunch of those public domain books from Amazon and had been wondering if they would work.

message 43: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments "Wine" is embedded and not allowed. "Winemaker" is not a type of liquor.

message 45: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1619 comments For the task:
Read a book with mpg of poetry

would The Day Before be acceptable?

MPG: Poetry is mentioned the Book Main Page but the other MPGs are YA/Romance/Contemporary/Realistic Fiction/Chick Lit etc.

I want to be sure if such books would work for this task.

Thanks.

message 46: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19957 comments Viji - That one does have poetry as a mpg. Maybe you just missed it?

message 47: by Kristie, Moderator (last edited Jan 01, 2023 07:53AM) (new)

Kristie | 19957 comments I'm just going to pop this here in case I need it later. It's a link to the poetry tag page: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/poetry

Also, wanted to comment that I read Starfish, which has the tag and was really good and I've not read Odder, but it has the tag and the cutest cover! :)

Odder by Katherine Applegate

Um... Kristie -- the link goes to the cover image of Alex North's The Angel Maker

message 49: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61524 comments Viji, it doesn't need to be the only genre listed on the main book page, it just needs to be included.

Just a word of caution to people using lists, the genre must also show on the mbp.
