The dog died by itself. Becca (Andie’s sister) released the dog and we can just assume it got lost and drowned in a lake.

this is when everyone is on different stages of the book

in the last book, we find out that jason actually killed the dog. beca just lost the dog and jason found it, then drowned it in the river
