Mairi Cairns | 2 comments I believed this book was called 'Dad mark 2.0' or 'Making dad 2.0' but can't find anything by that name. I remember it having a bright green cover with a minimalist cartoon drawing of the dad on the front.

General plot:
Boy's parents have separated/divorced, he goes to stay wih his dad and thinks his dad is a slob and if he got him into shape his mum will take him back. He "tricks" his dad into doing things like going out running, resulting in his dad getting it together and them bonding

Rainbowheart's suggestion of Rescuing Dad by Pete Johnson Rescuing Dad by Pete Johnson sounds like your book.

Google Books has a snippet search. You might get lucky searching for keywords:
https://books.google.com/books?id=kbA...

Quotes from the book:
- And to be honest, Dad looked such a complete mess, it was hard to imagine any woman with reasonable eyesight fancying him at the moment.
- 'And when do you think Dad Mark Two will be ready?'
- 'And he's had me out running every night too.' He started to laugh now. 'He was determined I wouldn't have a moment to sit ...'
