Cheryl (cc31419) | 21 comments I started my book April 1st and finished today. I chose Circle and read The Wedding Dress Sewing Circle by Jennifer Ryan. It was an easy read and a good story! It is set during WWII so if you like historical fiction definitely check it out!

Anu | 9 comments Read Vicious by V E Scwab.Really good! It's like sci fi and it's one of those stories where you can't tell who the hero and villain are.

Tianna ❀ (tiachante_) | 13 comments I wanted to use a book that was already in my tbr so I ended up swapping vicious for dangerous, and I read Feck Perfuction: Dangerous Ideas on the Business of Life by James Victore. It was very simple to me. The tips were things I think most people already know, and a lot of them were tone-deaf and written from a place of privilege. Like telling people they need to chase their dreams and stop chasing money, which isn’t possible for everyone to do in this economy. I’m honestly surprised it was published in 2019

Jenny | 48 comments I just finished reading The Broken Places by Ace Atkins. It's the 3rd book in the Quinn Colson series, but I hadn't read the first 2 yet, but I'll add them to my never-ending list of books. Good story, great characters and the good guys win. I don't feel like I missed too much by not having read the first 2 books. Would make for a good tv series.

Brittany Meldrum (brittanymeldrum) | 13 comments I finished reading “I found you” by Lisa Jewell. It was alright, nothing groundbreaking but there was an unexpected twist at the end which I appreciate

This fell somewhere between 3/4 stars for me. The dystopian/fantasy world is unique, and interesting enough to keep readers engaged. The writing style is uncomplicated, and most definitely YA, making for an easy read.

Sphere - Michael Crichton

- 5 stars on Goodreads.
This was great! I vaguely remember watching the movie in the late 90’s, but I don’t remember any details, so I don’t know how much the movie deviates from the book. For some reason I had it in the back of my mind that this might be a dry/boring read, but I was drawn in right from the start. There wasn’t a single part of the book that I wasn’t fascinated by. I don’t know why, but I’m actually somewhat delighted by the fact that I enjoyed it so much. The storyline kept me guessing, and that ending was delicious. I can’t recall the last time I gobbled up an over 500 page book in only 2 days.

Emily Floyd | 33 comments For some reason, I really struggled to find a book with this month's keywords. I finally settled on Ask: How to Relate to Anyone and am glad I read it. It's kind of related to Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know and I think reading both of them together would be powerful (I'm going to go back and re-read Think Again). The focus is on how to be a better listener and how to ask questions that engage people in conversation. I practiced some of the techniques this morning while driving my kids to school and found them to be powerful in getting conversation going and continuing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to continue growing their communication skills.

I read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. This was a very sobering read but well told. The book focuses on the story of Louis Zamperini from his youth to old age with a good portion of the book covering his time as a POW in Japan and how his experiences impacted his life. If all of your WW2 reading has been focused on Germany then this book could expose you to the other combatants. It's a hard enough subject that I don't know that I could recommend this to anyone although I think it is an important story.

I'm curious what you thought about this author? I am planning on reading one of her books in May.

Jennifer Wheeler | 122 comments Squeezed in one last book for April!

• Vicious - V.E. Schwab
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

After a bit of a slow start (100 pages or so), this ended up being fantastic. I love the concept of Extra Ordinaries, and how they come into existence. I also really enjoyed Schwab’s choice to hop back and forth through the timeline & character’s perspectives in order to slowly build a complete narrative. Towards the end, as the timeline gaps become closer together, it’s like watching 2 trains barreling towards one another at full speed. The reader knows there’s about to be a massive wreck, it’s just a matter of which characters will remain standing in the aftermath. The ending is perfect, in that readers are left scrambling to get their hands on the next book. Lucky for me, the next book is already out. UNlucky for me, I now have to wait for it to arrive in the mail.

Jerikay Eldeen | 34 comments For April, I read What the Wind Knows, by Amy Harmon. It was so so good!! I highly recommend, if you like historical fiction. It was set in Ireland, which is a plus. It starts out in modern day, 2001, then goes back to 1920s in Ireland. I was pulled in from the start. Highly recommend.
