I Read Comic Books discussion

I think I saw this comic intro pages while reading AstroCity. So may be this is an Image comic publication. It is in a coastal town. A girl (and a pet?) on a small kayak (?) travelling on the sea. She sees giant sea creatures underneath. Fresh, gorgeous artwork. Does anyone know this book?

If Manu saw it in Astro City, it's probably much older. That's comic has been over for a while.
