Based around a wedding weekend at the family’s holiday home intricacies and tensions of extended family life play out

Loved The Appeal by the same author so was looking forward to this one

It was very clever but I’m afraid I got fed up after about 100 pages - I did finish it but it was a struggle

Fifth book in Tilly and Poe series - usually set in Cumbria although this alternates with London / Northumberland

Loved Summerwater and The Fell by the same author. This is one of her earlier books which I enjoyed but a high bar had been set by the other two.

Historical Fiction based on the story of Jean Campbell a young deaf women who is charged with throwing her baby into the River Clyde in 1817 and Robert Kinniburgh who ‘interprets’ for her at her trial

The Pain Tourist by Paul Cleave

The novel is set in New Zealand which I would love to visit. Although given the murder / crime nature of the books maybe not !!
Second Paul Cleave book I’ve read - definite page turners

Split between two timeframes, present day and 1980’s around two families and a treasure hunt book. Liked the beginning and end but I flagged in the middle

Memoir tracing his family history and a collection of netsuke that the author inherited from his great uncle.

Travels from Odessa to Paris to Vienna to Japan - the second half of the book was particularly riveting

Enjoyed in the main although I’d had guessed the culprit relatively early.

I read one of the Duncan Kincaid series years ago - enjoyed it so I bought a few more. For some reason they’ve been lying on one of my TBR shelves since. So glad I’ve picked them back up

I've enjoyed Crombie series over the years. I think I've read all but the last one.
