After reading the above book, four main points were brought up and discussed. First, all at the meeting agreed that the memories the author described when he was three years old were too detailed from someone that age. Second, many agreed that even with the single family home, if the parent really cares and is involved in the child’s activities, it can make a difference in how successful they become in life. The third point was about how hard it is for kids to find a way to better themselves, when they have no real influences to guide them. And the last main discussion was about sad it was that the “other” Wes Moore tried to better himself and joined the job corps, but could not make ends meet for his family, ending up back in a life of crime. If you read the book, let us know what your thoughts were. Do you agree with the about statements? Do you have different ideas about the factors that causes individuals to be successful/unsuccessful? Did you have a different reaction to the book? Let us know.
