I read this book in November and really enjoyed it. It made me imagine how beautiful having a Christmas in the alps would be. I liked how Simone went looking for her family and the clock factory was a neat aspect. I like different kinds of clocks.

I really enjoyed how the treasure that Simone's great-grandmother sent her to find was the greatest treasure we can ALL find . . . relationships founded on love. One of my favourite Melody Carlson books in a while.

For some reason, even though I've liked other books by Melody Carlson, this one didn't work well for me, but I may read more by her in the future!

I did like the message of the book, though.

I read this rather quickly yesterday. I thought the European flavor was well done - loved the Alps setting and clock making theme. The storyline didn't pull me in all that much, but still a good read overall. I can't resist a Melody Carlson Christmas story!

Have you ever read her book The Christmas Swap? I tried it and I couldn't get through it. It was the first one of her books that I tried and I tried it twice.

I know the comment wasn't directed to me, Wysteria, but The Christmas Swap was one of my least favourite Carlson books. The romance was WAY too quick, and the heroine's 'best friend' was a bit of a stuck up jerk.

Oh, OK! I was wondering if her books were all like that or if they got better. I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought her "friend" wasn't really a friend at all.
