I am reading Jesus In Blue Jeans by Laurie Beth Jones. I couldn’t find any books on my bookshelf last month to fit the monthly theme so glad I found one this month.
WHOOPS! I forgot to post here! I finished Ghost Road Blues, by Jonathan Maberry on June 5th. It got 5 stars. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
DAMN! This was GREAT! No lies on the front cover, Maberry’s writing is very reminiscent of King. All of the creeping terror you could ask for, various types of “monsters” running amok, plus one bad-ass main character by the name of Malcolm Crow.
I read the graphic novel Everything is OK, and I just finished Gathering Blue, the second book of The Giver series! Everything is OK was good! If you have depression, definitely read it.
Gathering Blue was a bit unsatisfying. I hope the last book of the series wraps up the first two books because both their endings were kinda non-endings.

Book: Beneath Devil's Bridge by Loreth Ann White
A complex mystery, going back and forth between the current day and the past, along with shifting perspectives. Kept me guessing, and kept me up at night reading, especially when I got to the last chapters.

Challenge Completed!!!Word: Blue
I chose to read Blue Lightning by Ann Cleeves. This is the 4th in the Shetland Island series. Love this series :)
I read Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow it was ok I liked the idea of it and the story, but I found parts pretty boring and dragged on and then all the sudden ended. I am happy I read it though
I read “Everything, Everything” by Nicola Yoon and my feelings are complicated. It was great? It was devastating.
I read The Blue Nowhere by Jeffrey Deaver. It's about a serial killer using hacking and social engineering. The killer would find his victims in the late 1990s using his computer skills and impersonation skills. The police team also uses a jailed hacker to catch him. I enjoyed it, but there were a few times I grazed over all the computer lingo.
I read "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" by Thornton WilderThe Bridge of San Luis ReyA great read, fairly fast paced. I will say I loved the last chapter the most, what you learn from the abbess about what the moral of the story truly is has impacted my heart.
I read Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casie McQuiston. For the most part, I liked it. The love story was sweet and the side characters were wonderful. I wish they were fleshed out more but maybe they’ll get their own novels. The only part I did not enjoy was all of the politics. The main character was the president’s son and it took place during her re-election. I felt like the drama of that was thrown in just for more conflict - the characters could have had the same obstacles by her just being the president.
I just finished Everything Inside by Edwidge Danticat. These were all really great short stories filled with the harsh truth of life of immigration from Haiti to the United States. I think my favourites were Sunrise, Sunset and Seven Stories. The topics are kinda heavy though so check the trigger warnings before you dive in.
I just finished Everything matters by Ron Currie Jr. This is a must read. It was so good and kept me entertained almost the entire time (the beginning was a little slow for me).
For this month, I read The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. It was a quick, easy read with romance, mystery, thrills, etc. It was about a vet who walked halfway across the country to find a girl in a photo he found in Iraq. Supposedly, the photo gave him good luck and kept him alive during his deployments in the Middle East. He does find the girl, but doesn't tell her right away about the photo, but instead helps her family by taking a job at her grandmother's business and befriending her son. If you like Nicholas Sparks, it is a must read. This book was also made into a movie. It follows the book pretty well with some changes, but the main story line still intact.
Hairpin BRIDGEby Taylor Adams 2 stars
EVERYTHING We Keep
by Kerry Lonsdale 3 stars
WILD and Wicked Things
by Francesca May 3 stars
I finished In a Field of Blue. It was really good and took a little time to unfold, but WOW when it did! Unrelated: I won a Goodreads book via Kindle - I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to claim it or find it. Any clues?
Yay I finished just in time! I read The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. I did enjoy it and the stuff about growing up Asian American aas relatable.I did struggle to keep track of the eight main characters when reading and some of their stories did feel unfinished. 3/5
Here are the books I read this month to meet this month's reading challenge:Bridge: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson - a newberry winner for young readers & this one deals with friendship and lost. 4 stars; The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy - is about the sins of respected people, lost interest but read it since it is a classic 3 stars; A Bridge Across the Ocean by Susan Meissner- a ghost mystery set in the Queen Mary across the Atlantic just after world war 2. More of an interesting read for me, Gave it 4 stars.
Everything: Everything here is Beautiful by Mira T. Lee is about the relationship between 2 Chinese American sisters as they deal with mental illness. 4 stars
Blue: Island of the Blue Dolphin - a newbery medal book good for young readers & is about an Indian girl who lives in a rocky island off the Coast of California 4 stars; Blond Hair, Blue Eyes by Karin Slaughter is a short thriller story 3 stars; The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand - love story 3 stars; A yellow Raft in Blue Water by Michael Dorris-- 3 stories of American Indian women in a family saga- a classic, gave it 4 stars; Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren- an average romcom 3 stars.
Why: Why the Sky is Blue by Susan Meissner-- a family story and issues with giving up a child who was the result of a rape in the family. Very touching and interesting read. Gave it 4 stars
First: The First Lady by James Patterson -- interesting read when the First Lady goes rouge --4 stars
Wild: Something Wilder by Christina Lauren - love the outdoors and was hoping for a more exciting romcom but it didn't meet my expectations---3stars.
Luck: Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee - a survival story of a Chinese stowaway in the Titanic. 3 stars
Tomorrow: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin - a little slow pace for me, 3 stars; Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: My life by Sofia Loren - interesting read of her story from her life during WW2 in Italy to her rising fame-4 stars.
I kind of had a hard time figuring out a book for this month's challenge but I finally finished This Time Tomorrow and really enjoyed it. I was sort of in a reading slump and so I read this one really slowly. But I ended up enjoying it tremendously, It had a little bit of a Midnight Library vibe, but the characters were super charming and I loved the father-daughter relationship.
