Terry | 2523 comments I'm in. I will add some books to this list but leave others open to see what will develop as the days pass by and as I can find time.

Welcome to the challenge, Terry. I hope you have a great year of reading.

message 7: by Terry (new)

message 8: by Lori (new)

Lori Keeton | 1495 comments I like your method, Terry! So many random and unplanned reads often fit the Bingo board. Good luck! Looking forward to reading with you next year!

Glad you decided to join in, Terry. I had a lot of fun with Bingo a few years back when I didn't plan any of the reads and just filled in where the things I was reading happened to fall. Have fun!

message 10: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Thanks, Lori. We shall see how this goes.

message 11: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Thank you, Sara. I have a few ideas for so my e of the categories, but I am hoping to be somewhat spontaneous this uear.

message 12: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments You all may have noticed that I have pretty much ignored my 2023 Bingo. Unlike previous years, I yielded to the temptations of reading by whim. In fairness, I would say some of my whims have fallen into the category of classic. But I will wait just a bit longer to see how many I can fit into the 2023 Bingo playing card. I am perfectly comfortable not getting a blackout, but I do think it will be interesting to see if I got at least a few Bingos! And until I do that, I won’t start planning a 2024 card. I am intrigued by the idea of reading books I already own, though. My active reading bookcase is overflowing and I buy too many books!

Terris | 4394 comments I'll be interested, Terry, to see how many books fit into your Bingo card categories. I did that one year and I was really surprised, and it was kind of fun to do that instead of planning! And good luck on reading through your bookcase. I think that's something all of us need to do :)

Happy Reading in 2024 -- Bingo or Not! ;)

message 14: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 5498 comments Reading by whim is something I keep trying to do more of, so I'd stay stick with it, and let the challenges fall where they may!

message 15: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Terris and Kathleen, thanks so much for your support in this. It’s an experiment for me, for sure! I will definitely report back how it worked. And it will shape the way I approach the 2024 Bingo, but i am also intrigued by Laurie’s approach of Bingo reading from my bookcase, seriously needs some reading reduction!

message 16: by Veronique (new)

Veronique | 1135 comments If your bookcases are as overstuffed as mine, you’ll have plenty of choice :O) My approach is a kind of mix of the two, planning a few titles, or rather gathering books I’d like to get to, and then leaving space for mood reading.

Have a wonderful 2024 bingo read :O)

message 17: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Thanks, Veronique! I am still trying to get through 2023, so not planning ahead much yet.

message 18: by Wobbley (new)

Wobbley | 2830 comments Good luck Terry! There's certainly something to be said for impulse reading. :)

message 19: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Thanks, Wobbley!

message 20: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments 2023 was a year of impulse reading for me, If I had glanced at the Bingo card once or twice, I might have made better Bingo decisions because there certainly were books which I wanted to read (books that I own) which would have fit at least three of the categories. I read 65 books from which I filled 17 Bingo slots. I could have put more than one book into a few slots. I did enjoy my reading life and got a level one Bingo along the way.

The important thing is that you enjoyed your reading, Terry. We sometimes forget that the goal is really to enjoy books, not to check off categories. I did more impulse reading as well, and I hope to keep it up in 2024.

message 22: by Wobbley (new)

Wobbley | 2830 comments 65 books and enjoying your reading? Honestly, that sounds like a perfect year!

message 23: by Terry (new)

Terry | 2523 comments Thanks, Sara and Wobbley. I read a lot of four star books in 2023 so I am pretty happy with where I ended up.
