Was the lyrical writing and use of metaphors overdone to you while reading? Or was it the perfect amount? Did it add to the romance in the novel?

Miss Bookiverse (missbookiverse) I thought it was a bit overdone. The lyrics themselves were cute and often even beautiful but I thought the general idea of Sam making up lyrics in his mind all the time was rather cheesy.
Also the whole mentioning of the Rilke poem seemed a bit too much. I liked that it was used in the book but they talked about it just a little TOO much.

Lia RaeAnn (myhappyending) I liked it, but thought that it was used way too much!

Has anyone ever read any Rilke poetry? I noticed it's mentioned on page 177 and was wondering if anyone had checked it out?

Miss Bookiverse (missbookiverse) The Panther (I'm not quite sure that's the English title) is probably his most famous poem so as is poetry is originally written in German and I am from Germany I think we read and talked about it in school. I think I was too young to fully grasp its meaning back then though.

I love Sam's song for Grace! Summer girl!

Julia | 432 comments I think that Sam's lyrics were a reflection of his being in his own head so very much, in his pack and when he's human. I quite like the Rilke poetry. I like that Sam reads fiction and poetry and Grace reads non-fiction and history.
