Welcome back, Iola! Good luck with Ararat in 2023. Glad you were able to reduce the pile a bit.
I haven't done so well. We have an annual community book sale in aid of a local food bank and I just can't resist books (especially in a good cause). I managed to read 177 of my own books (so far--hoping for a few more before the year's out), but 218 new-to-me books came in. All the Santas in my life added 30 more just at Christmas. :-)

Wow! I'm impressed you managed to read 177 books last year. I do agree that those charity book sales are wicked ... I find I have to support them by donating rather than buying (or by buying, reading, and donating them back again).
Good luck for 2023, and thank you for organising the challenge again!

My difficulty is that I both love to read and love to collect (vintage mysteries are my weakness). So, the books rarely leave the house.
You're very welcome for the challenge. As long as I have TBR mountains, I'll be hosting and at the rate I collect that will be until I go to the big library in the sky. :-)

I've started the year well ... (because it's holiday time, and while it's supposed to be summer, we're getting nothing but rain).1. About Time You Proposed by Lisa Renee
2. Kiss Me on Christmas by Sarah Monzon
3. The Hearts of New Cheltenham by Chautona Havig
4. Not Another Christmas by Jacee Weaver
5. Christmas Camp by Cathe Swanson
6. Over the Waters by Deborah Raney

The good news: I only (only!) added 17 books to the TBR pile in 2022, so I have gone down slightly.
