Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyeshttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
Why did I think it would be a good idea to reread this book? The last time I read it was when it was required reading in high school. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it back then, and I did remember the basics of the storyline. I still love it, but for some reason, I didn’t anticipate/consider how hard it would hit me after losing my dad to dementia in 2020… I feel like my heart has been torn to shreds.
“I've got to try to hold onto some of the things I've learned. Please, God, don't take it all away.”

I read The Chase by Janet Evanovich. It is a simple book, easy to read and full of cute action. I liked it, 3 star read. There’s more books in the series and I think I might read more, just to see where the characters end up.
I read Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. It was required reading in high school and while I remember enjoying it then, reading it as an adult is a completely different experience. Emotionally it hit harder and I definitely cried.
For this month I read a book I've been looking forward to for a long time - Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. I'm so glad I finally was able to check this one out. The story of the Osage murders (yet another tragic part of our history that I didn't know about!) is fascinating, tragic and so important to understand. The idea that Native Americans were worthless until they were sitting on top of this wealth is a sad part of our history. And the relation of the murder investigations and the development of the FBI was super interesting. Highly recommend this book!
I also read Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Gran. I had heard a lot about this book, finally got the chance to read it. A sad story, but needed to be told. The first time I had heard anything about this tale from the past, guess we missed that part in our history books in school.
