Caipi & Jackie
Jackie wrote: "Good morning, Caipi!"Good morning Jackie!
Well, I am at home in Germany (please excuse any mistakes with my English) and here it is already late in the afternoon. 😂 I am just on my way to the Christmas market together with my husband and friends. Did you celebrate Christmas?
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and reading together for this challenge.
Sorry, didn't think about the time difference. I did celebrate Christmas and enjoyed it. I'm excited to get to know you. It's always good to meet new people and especially from different countries.Going to the Christmas market sounds like fun. Hope you enjoy!
The Christmas market was fun and the mulled wine was delicious! 😋Do you already plan the books you want to read, or do you always decide at short notice what you feel like reading?
My books 📚 Read 6/6
J Just a Bit Obsessed 1/12 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A After Felix 1/14 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
C The Christmas Throwaway 1/4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
K Kiss and Ride 1/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I In Tune 1/9 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
E Elements of Retrofit 1/3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished January 14th!! 😊📚
I love to plan for challenges. The only downside is that I participate in so many challenges that I'm constantly shifting books to fit. So even though I'll plan my books here, it will probably change before I finish.
My books:C The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie - 1/4
A The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie - 1/6
I It by Stephen King - 1/1
P The Pale Horse by Agatha Christie - 1/5
I I Feel Bad About My Neck, And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman by Nora Ephron - 1/18
It's the same with me! For some books I plan ahead, but mostly I end up reading others that fit multiple challenges. I've never played Turf Wars, but I'm on your team for Bookopoly and I'm playing the Into India Challenge with Janine, Amanda, Kirsten and three others. And I'm sure there will be more challenges for us soon..... We are a great group of challenge addicts! 😂
I'm excited to be playing with you guys on Bookopoly. I've played with Janine and Amanda on the Halloween Roundup challenge and am currently playing with Kirsten on Plague vs Cure. And UNO is coming up soon!

I played UNO for the first time last year and it was fun. I'll sign up again, looking forward to it. :)
Hi Caipi. How's it going?Don't forget to come by Bookopoly and list your read books on the tracking spreadsheet.

Hi Jackie, I am doing well. How was your start into the new year?
I have read 2 of the 6 letters for your name so far. It looks like you read significantly faster than I do. 🙈🙈
I haven't forgotten about Bookopoly. But since I had only signed up for 4 books/month, I thought I'd always wait until the end of a week and then decide which book to put down in the SS.
Hi Caipi, all’s well with me. You don’t have to limit yourself. We’re all putting everything on the spreadsheet so we have books to cover whatever tasks we need to do for the spaces we land on. But, of course, however you want to do it is fine.I do read a lot and have been reading larger books for another challenge that I’m doing with Kirsten. It’s all fun.

You're doing the Plaque Challenge with Kirsten, right? I'm not participating in it, but I've heard it's very complex. Do you enjoy it?
Yes, the Plague Challenge. It is very complex and requires a lot of reading. We have been short a team member since early in the challenge and that has really made the rest of us have to read more. I have read more pages for this challenge than I've ever done before. So it's enjoyable as far as the concept. But I'm going to probably need a couple day's rest from reading when I finish!

I'm a bit competitive, too, but the fun of reading should always be the most important. That's why I only sign up for 4 books/month for team challenges even though I usually read at least 10 books. I don't want to get stressed when I can't use my books for several challenges.
How long does your challenge still go on?
Question #1Some of you may have established where each other is from in the conversation. If not, where are you from?
Task: Read a book set in the state or country your partner is from.
Jackie wrote: "Caipi, you're in Germany, right? I'm in North Carolina in US."Yes, I'm in Germany. I really hope you find a book that is set in Germany that you also like! 🙈🤞🏻🤞🏻
I'm going to read Understanding Jeremy. It is set in North Carolina and I can also use it for another challenge. 😊👍🏻
Jackie wrote: "I'm going to read The Spy Who Came In from the Cold"Not my kind of read, but I hope you enjoy your "visit" to the Berlin of back in the sixties.
We are going to Berlin next weekend (about a seven hour drive from us) to visit our oldest for her birthday.
Finished my book last night. :)Task: Read a book set in the state or country your partner is from
=> Jackie is from North Carolina in US.
Unearthing Cole set in North Carolina
Read January 25th
Finished mine today. Changed my book because I needed this one for another challenge and it was set in Germany too.Task: Task: Read a book set in the state or country your partner is from
=> Caipi is from Germany
Kindred by Steve Robinson - 1/27/23
Set in Germany
question 2would you rather be reincarnated as a cate or dog?
task: read a book with the animal your partner chooses on the cover
Hi Jackie, sorry I'm just getting back to you, I was out of town over the weekend. If asked, I would rather be reincarnated as a dog.
As far as I understand the task, you have to read for my chosen animal, which is the dog, and I have to read for your cat.
Tomorrow I will search for a book with a working cover and also update the SS with my books for Bookopoly.
Phew, it was quite difficult to find a book with a cat on the cover! In so many of my novels, the MCs own a cat or rescue a cat from the shelter during the story, but they're never on the cover.... 😅Completion Post Question 2
Jackie is a cat person

Jackie wrote: "I think my favorite decade would be the 1970s."OMG, finding a book for this task is going to be tough one for me!! I have no idea where to even start looking. 🙈😅 I read mostly contemporary and exclusively mm romance for a few years now.
Now, for my favorite decade, while of course I like to look back at the eighties, the years my youth, I'm still a "I live in the now person". Therefore I would rather choose the present, so let's go with the 2010s as my decade.
Completion PostQuestion 3: What is your favorite decade?
Caipi's favorite decade is the 2010s
Cooking for Ghosts by Patricia V. Davis - 2/11/23
Published Oct. 1, 2016
Completion PostQuestion 3: What is your favorite decade?
Jackie's favorite decade is the 1970s.
Desert Run by Marshall Thornton
Set in Palm Springs, 1973
Read: February 19th
Question 4You are stranded on a remote desert island, what book do you bring with you?
Task: Read the book your partner would bring.
OMG, I'm afraid this is going to be terribly difficult for us.... As far as I know, we really do read totally different books! Do you also use KU? I definitely don't want you to spend money on a book that you don't end up liking at all. And I would really appreciate it if you would bring a short book with you to the remote desert island..... 🙈😅
This is hard. I have KU so no problem there. How about The Silver Linings Playbook? Can you get it? It's really good and not too long.

Challenge runs Jan 1 to Feb 28th.
Here you can keep track of all the books you will read. When you are done with your name please go to the Check in thread and let me know that you have finished. That way you can start on your bonus tasks.
Once both people are finished with the others name you will be given bonus ice breaker questions that will be turned into tasks. So you can learn about each other. If you have any questions please go the Q & A Thread
