Read Women discussion

This is the thread for our March 2023 nominations! Nominations will be open for 1 week (give or take). I'm being kind to my future self and posting now.

For fiction, we will be reading a Woman in Translation. Please post your nomination's original language with your nomination.

For non-fiction, we are looking for a memoir or biography written both by and about a woman.

Criteria:
1. Book must be by a female author (transwomen and women using male pseudonyms are women).
2. No books that have already been group reads within the past 3 years/36 months (check the group's bookshelf).
3. Do not nominate a book you have written or for which you are the publicist or lead marketer.
4. Consider availability. If a book is available in the US and UK (at minimum), and in paperback and ebook formats, more members can participate than if not.

To Nominate:
1. Give both the title of the book and the author's name when nominating to avoid confusion. Please use the 'add book/author' button when nominating.
2. Indicate whether you are willing or not to lead discussion if your nomination is chosen.
3. Maximum - one nomination per member, per category.

Upon second thought, I must withdraw The Bombay Prince from consideration, for its author wrote it in English.

In its place, I nominate the novel "She Came to Stay" by Simone de Beauvoir. This is de Beauvoir's debut novel - known in the original French as L'Invitée - which was published in 1943.

Jana, I'll take the easy question, the "add book / author" button is immediately above the comment box, if you're using the desktop version of GoodReads. If you find it and click on it, a pop-up appears atop your comment field, and you can choose between searching for the book or the author (there are 2 tabs) and insert live links into your comment. (If you are using the GR app, please for the love of God and yourself, stop. The app is missing many features, makes it really difficult to get to group threads and lacks other benefits, with no pluses. On your phone, (a) access the GoodReads site via the browser application of your choice, (b) at the GR landing page, scroll down and select the desktop version. If it says, "mobile", you're in the right place - using the desktop version. If it says, "desktop," you're using the mobile interface.)
