Sandi (sandin954) | 1276 comments Had a really good month to end the year.

Here are my December reads:

Top Reads

Stray Bullets - Robert Rotenberg
A very well done entry in this series that is set in Toronto and follows an ensemble cast of the police, the Crown lawyers, and the defense lawyers. Listened to the audio version which was nicely read by Paul Hecht.

Signal Loss - Garry Disher
A high quality entry in this police procedural series set in the Peninsula region of Australia. There were maybe too many plotlines but all the regular characters got their moments and I found it very enjoyable.

The Bullet That Missed - Richard Osman
Another delightful entry in this British series featuring a group of retired friends turned sleuths. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by Fiona Shaw who was not quite as good as the narrator of the previous two books.

Good Reads

We Spread - Iain Reid
A bit too out there for me but it was compelling because of the characters and atmosphere. Listened to the audio version and the narration by Robin Miles was top notch.

A Dark Matter - Doug Johnstone
An enjoyable though dark first book in a series set in Edinburgh Scotland and featuring three generations of females who are running a combination funeral home and private detection business.

Spirit of Steamboat - Craig Johnson
A fun Christmas adventure featuring Walt and Lucian. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by the all time great George Guidall.

I love that you introduce me to series I've never heard of, especially police procedurals. Good month!

Ann (annrumsey) | 17005 comments Sandi: I wondered about the audio version of We Spread. I had it lined up to listen then ran across the hard cover at the library and read it in print instead. I almost want to listen to it too. I still might someday knowing you enjoyed the narration!
