I haven't seen the movie but I did read the book. I'm sorry I didn't make it to the meeting last night. My husband wrecked his car in the ice this past weekend so he's been holding my car hostage. So, what was the verdict? I was really into it up until the very end. I think Jacob should have stuck to the original plan. It was depressing and fell flat for me after such a buildup.
I'm sorry to hear about your car; I'm just glad you're all okay! I hope you can make it out to the next meeting.
Everyone seemed to like the book. I personally loved it. I didn't think the ending felt rushed, but I was confused a bit by it. I wasn't quite sure if the ending was a sort of death/hallucination or if he actually found sanctuary. Hopefully, this will be cleared up by the end of the quartet.
I think it would've been impossible for Jonas to stick to the original plan because he loved Gabriel. I think his willingness to leave all behind for the sake of love probably best showcases how he's different from the others in his community. If he had stayed with the plan while Gabriel's life was threatened I'm not sure he would have been the same character. Or if he would have even been an effective receiver.
