this book has one of the best world building in fantasyyou can read it as pure fantasy book
and you can read it as a symbolic representation of our time
the characters are diverse
the story is complex but easy to follow
KAZ is my favorite
I've read through chapter 5, I am so excited to see more of what has happened since the War in S&B (for those who have read it). The main characters seem very interesting already, I'm excited to really get to know who they are. Annnd the Grisha powers are so cool, very Avatar the Last Airbender vibes 😍

I've never read Shadow and Bone, but I'm actually really enjoying this so far. I like the characters, the worldbuilding is great, and the plot is pretty interesting. I'm already halfway through, but I'd give it an 8/10
I read S&B series they were....a little boring?(imo) But I'm enjoying this book so far!! I love the world building-although it was a little too much information for my pea size brain but i liked it!😅 and the charcters especially kaz😌
I'm invested in Nina and Matthias relationship god I'm so so ready to read their relationship throughout this bookl😬. And btw that prison scene was epic

I actually just read chapter 6 after my last message lol I was STRESSED. ouch! I loved S&B I read it with my husband Dave last year. We got so into the world that we were just coming up with plots and guesses constantly. I think that added to the fun haha.
Have any of you watched the show on Netflix? I'm waiting until I finish all three series to watch it so it might be a while .. but I did see part of the first episode and it seemed pretty good 🧐

I did not read S&B, so this book was the first introdution to the Grisha world, the multi characters and worlds was not confusing but I found myself needing to go back to previous pages to check on events or settings. but I enjoyed every minute of it
I read it with our world in mind
you can literally say, oh this is Russia, this is ME, this America, but also you could read it without this implication
BTY, if you haven't watched the Netflex series, don't untill you finish this book, you will enjoy it much more as many scenes are included in the series

Yess, It is a lot of information but I found the further I read the more I understood the language/terms. I've found the kindle helps SO much with this also because you can use x-ray on words/characters that relate to the book. I also love that you can mirror the book to our world — it brings such richness to the table. I didn't realize how many different areas of the world were in the story Sue, I'll have to start looking at it with more of a "Game of Thrones" mindset to understand the layouts now lol
That's exactly how I felt at the start of that show (didn't read the books) ...confused 🤔 😂

if you look at Kaz as capitalizm, doing anything for profit even disregarding his feeling
Inij is the product of colonization. She is living in a world not her own trying to please but coming to herself and identity slowly
Jesper is hiding his oppressed desires behind laughter and jokes and Wylan is the nerd that everyone underestimate him
but the obvious relation is Mattias and Nina (a German and Jew conflict) iykyk
I absolutely loved the diversity in this book
i’m so in love with six of crows, hands down one of the best fantasy books i’ve ever read. the crows will just always hold a special place in my heart. <3

Are any of you planning to finish the duology? I will probably pick it back up sometime next month. I'm dying to read her newest book Hell Bent at some point. I actually really enjoy this author's books!

I recently have been asked by many people if we could do a discussion on The Six of Crows! Firstly, if you have any questions about the book, please ask me! Secondly, I would like to ask what your opinions are on the current book, as in the structure and setting and things like that (you can include the story as well in that)!
