This was a tough one, i remember loving it, while reading this back at university, this time instead of enjoying the poetics and complexity it was rather a blur.
5. ***** Als wir träumten byClemens Meyer, read in German
So far along with Madame by Antoni Libera the best novel i've read this year (not counting re-reads)
6. *** Schwanensterben by Liliane Skalecki, read in german
Predictable but enjoyable crime novel, likeable charactersI and nice descriptions of the town of Bremen, it's food, and culture
I'm no fan of genre-lit, but liked it quite a lot
I was very disappointed that the copy I ordered of this book was suddenly unavailable. Do have the Settlement however which is very good if not profoundly sad at this stage.Good photo. Did a lot of work around Karl Marx’ writing when I was at University.

Sorry to hear the book went unavailable, i think you would like it. hopefully you'll get a chance to read it soon.
I hope i'll get to read "The Settlement" soon, i want to catch up on few others first.
The photo was taken in Dessau, we went there to get a look t the Bauhaus buildings and were very positively surprised by finding also such a large Marx statue
10. ** Rotglut by Liliane Skalecki, read in germanIt was ok and entertaining, but nothing out of the box here, a pretty generic crime novel
it is his first novel from 1997, i'm not sure of there is an english translation. i've read it around 15 years back and loved it back then, it is still enjoyable, but i noticed several flaws which i missed reading it the first time
But yes, there is a new Novel by Kehlmann, Lichtspiel came out around two weeks ago and is about G.W. Pabst. Really looking forward to tead it as i like both Kehlmann and Pabst. But before i reach for it i wanted to reread his older stuff + read the novels i missed yet
Well I suppose there will be the usual delay before translation. I’ll wait. I enjoy him enormously and because of the delay in translation I have one I hold in case I get impatient. Oh! That might be read soon.
