What alternate history shall we read in February ?

In print is considered a nice touch. No renomination of previously read works. (List here:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...
)

Members who have participated for several months may nominate books they have personal connections to (including being the author of).

Clyde (wishamc) 1632 by Eric Flint
(RIP, Eric.)

I was considering Voyage by Stephen Baxter, but at close to 800 pages it might be a bit of a slog. Especially, following right after LOtR (which I still haven't started).
