Unfortunately, this one ended up being just okay for me. There was a lot of interesting trivia. But, sometimes the science got so weird and complex on subjects that didn't actually seem all that interesting to me (I guess I don't really care if you can make a machine gun jetpack). When the author tried to insert humor, it didn't feel natural to me - probably the funniest parts were when he put [citation needed] next to obvious facts.
So, it just got 3 stars from me.

I would never have read this if not for the Book-a-book of the month club, something I suspect that I will be thinking a lot over the next few months. It was a great, easy read for me and whilst it wasn't all brilliant the bits that made me laugh were worth it. However you slice it I am a nerd so it's my kind of humour. Great, harmless fun, for nerds.
Christopher - I am glad the club is introducing you to books you may not have chosen otherwise. I appreciate your participation! I hope I keep suggesting books you enjoy. (Honestly, often the books I find I probably would not have thought to read if not for the club, either - I really try and think of some interesting selections to keep the topics diverse and the readers interested!)
I think you're doing a great job so far Matthew. I'm about to start this Month's book and I have managed to resist the temptation to find out anything about it. Sometimes I like to go into a film/movie that way and just be surprised and since I had not heard of the book and have no idea what it's about it's exciting. I even managed to buy the book without reading the blurb which was a very weird feeling.
