Smoke carried Midnight into the barn and slowly padded over to an unused nest he set her down gently and curled up around the sleeping she-cat.
Whisper looked up and chuckled."Well Smoke what happened to the big scary tom."She laughed quietly at him. Stroking her belly with her tail.
Whisper looked up and chuckled."Well Smoke what happened to the big scary tom."She laughed quietly at him. Stroking her belly with her tail.
Midnight snuggled into Smoke's pelt as he curled around her.
Quail-light chuckled as she watched him. "The poor thing's all tuckered out. Where did you find her?" She asked softly. She too had a swollen belly.
Quail-light chuckled as she watched him. "The poor thing's all tuckered out. Where did you find her?" She asked softly. She too had a swollen belly.
"I found her by the river. She actually stole my fish."Smoke chuckled knowing both queens would be in shock that he didn't harm her to teach her a lesson."Her parents got killed and her brother left her. She told me she is four moons and I offered to raise her until she can be on her own.
Quail-light gazed at him and gave him a hard look. "You didn't hurt her did you?" She meowed, feeling protective over the small kit. She then heard the rest of what he said and her eyes softened at the tale. "The poor thing." She then meowed and as she got to her paws to stretch her legs she winced and slid back to her stomach. She hissed slightly as pain rippled through her stomach.
"Are you okay."Smoke looked at her worriedly. His eyes softened towards the queen.
Whisper stood up and walked over to her best friend."Whats wrong." she asked softly.
Whisper stood up and walked over to her best friend."Whats wrong." she asked softly.
Quail-light hissed again and her claws dug into the ground. "They're coming." She murmured and winced again. She slid onto her side and tried to control her breathing. She wished that Flint was with her she needed his support.
"Bite onto this stick and bush when you convulse."Whisper purred reassuringly licking her friends neck." He will be here soon but these kits are coming now."
Quail-light nodded and bit down on the stick. She felt reassured as Whisper licked her neck. She then pushed slightly and whimpered and she bit of the stick even harder.
Whisper bit the kits sac and went back to pushing on her belly. She purred calmly and purred at her friend.
Sparrow slid into the barn and looked at his mom in shock as he realized what was going on.

Quail-light felt the furry body beside her her and went back to pushing she ended up breaking the stick. She hissed slightly and continued to push.
Flint padded in after him and glanced towards Quail-light and his eyes wider he was by her side almost instantly. He licked her cheek gently and purred to her. "That's it darling." Her meowed.

Flint nodded and licked his son until he heard mewling and felt movement. He set him next to Quail-light, the Flint realized that she was unconscious. "Quail-light? Quail-light!" He mewed panicked.
Whisper went to work automatically and pushed on her belly to use her strength to help push the young kit out."When he comes out hurry to clean him."
Flint nodded and gazed worriedly at his mate. He then did as instructed once he saw Hudson. He licked his fur, though when the kit didn't move he panicked again. "Whisper he's not waking. He's not moving." He whimpered and gazed at the kit helless.
"I.. I am very sorry Flint."Whisper looked at her friend slowly."He is gone but maybe those ancient cats of the stars have found his young spirit my friend."Whisper looked down gently at her paws.
Flint gazed at the bundle of stilled fur and felt his chest tighten up. He immediately curled around Quil-light and licked her gently. "Please wake up." He whimpered.
Whisper nuzzled Quail-light cheek gently and pressed closely to her friend. She felt tears well up in her icy blue eyes."I'm so sorry."She whispered softly.
Sparrow watched sadly before looking down at his paws.

Quail-light shifted slightly and she woke up. She heard what Whisper said and grew confused. "What are you talking about? Whisper what's wrong?" She asked her voice was still weak. Flint immediately covered her face with licks of relief. Her nuzzled her and then glanced at the body of their stillborn kit and felt a lump form in his chest.
"One of your sons did not survive but I swear to you. I will name my next son after your lost little one."Whisper said softly as her voice shook. "But maybe the lost cats of the stars are watching over your little son."Whisper said hopefully about the Starclan cats.
Quail-light froze and she shuttered slightly. "What?" She asked in a soft voice and she trembled slightly. She turned and cried into Flint's chest. He tried to comfort her the best he could. Though what truly helped her was the indignant mewling that came from her stomach. She gazed down at her stomach and gazed at her two surviving kits. Her eyes softened and she lowered her muzzle and licked both of them. She then caught sight of the stillborn kit and she looked saddened deeply. She leant over and picked the kit up and set him down. "We need to name them." She murmured to him.
Whisper backed away to leave the mates alone.
Sparrow watched his mother and felt pride that she was his mother.

Quail-light and Flint spoke with eachother and then Quail-light gazed up at Whisper. "Whisper, would you like to hear their names?" She asked softly as she gazed up at her.
"Of course."Whisper smiled at her friend and looked at her belly wondering what she would be naming her next son. She looked at them hopefully.
Quail-light nodded and smiled gently. She the gazed at each one. "Our daughter is going to be Mallow. The grey tom is Rain and our list kit was going to be Rowan." She replied softly and her voice was heavy with grief as she said her stillborn kits name.
"Well we will tell Rowan that the kit he was named after was a fighter."Whisper told her friend her voice laced with grief as her heart broke at the thought.
Quail-light's heart swelled with joy at what her best friend said to her. "Thank you Whisper." She purred softly and nuzzled her friend. She then gazed down at her kits and sighed softly.
Quail-light was completely deviated. All three of her kits had died and she had fell into depression. She hadn't eaten anything in a couple days and her sleep was restless. She also hasn't spoken to a soul since. She was curled beside Flint when Whisper's yowl awoke her. She gazed at her friend but was too weak to even move. She then remembered the promise Whisper had made to her and even more sorrow spread throughout her. Flint had awoken as well and gazed worriedly at Whisper and urged Quail-light to help. After a moment the Queen nodded and padded over to her friend. She nuzzled her and gave her a stick, still not speaking a word as she rested her paws on her belly.
Whisper pushed and yowled as her son was brought into the world a bloody mess. Whisper looked back and yowled out louder than before.
Quail-light nipped his sac and gave him to Flint to clean before waiting for the second kit to be born. This was killing her. Seeing kits and her friend in pain.
Whisper pushed and a little white she-cat came out. Whisper purred out softly and laid her head down. Her body fell still as her last breath left her body her eyes seeming to look out to nothing. A tiny trickle of blood leaking out of her mouth.
Quail-light nipped the she-cats sac and licked her until she squeaked. She then set her beside her mother, not realizing that Whisper was dead. She thought that she had simply fallen unconscious and that she would awake to name her kits. Quail-light sighed and padded back to her own nest and curled into a tight ball.
Smoke opened his eyes slowly and stayed still around Midnight. He motioned towards Flint to go look at Whisper. The two young kits trying to feed were getting restless like there was no milk.
Flint glanced up and noticed Smoke's motion. He padded over and nudged the queen and sighed sadly. He licked the top of the kits heads then glanced at Smoke. "Where's Sparrow." He meowed softly fire padding back over to Quail-light with the kits in his jaws.
"He is out by the river hunting for his mom. What is wrong?"Smoke asked getting up slowly his eyes turning to sadness as he realized the queen was gone.
"Quail-light you need to nurse them." He meowed to his mate setting the kits down before sighing. "She's gone. Smile we need to go tell him." Flint meowed solemnly. Quail-light gazed at the kits and then at Whisper and tears welled up at what Flint said. "She's gone." She whimpered and curled around them protectively.
Midnight gazed up at Smoke and pressed against him. "Is she dead?" She asked softly as she gazed at the queen.
Midnight gazed up at Smoke and pressed against him. "Is she dead?" She asked softly as she gazed at the queen.
"Midnight, Whisper believed in a place called Starclan. She is now watching over us to protect us."Smoke told her softly and nuzzled her gently.
Sparrow walked into the barn happy carrying a nice catch. He looked around and automatically lowered his little ears.

Midnight simply nodded and smiled as he nuzzled her. She didn't really understand why the loss of the Queen was saddening. How she understood death was that it was a release from pain, so the sadness of losing someone never came.
Flint padded over to him and rested his tail on his shoulders. "She's in StarClan now, remember that. She'll want you to look after your little brother and sister and protect them." Flint meowed gently.

"I'd like to change my name to Whisper. In honor of my mother."Sparrow spoke loudly and strongly
Flint blinked and nodded. He smiled gently and then glanced at his mate and the kits. "Why don't you come meet your siblings Whisper." He murmured.
Whisper padded over to Flint's mate and looked down at the small little kits."She is so small."he whispered softly looking at Flint.
Flint chuckled and nodded. "What would you like to name your little sister?" He then asked gently. Midnight curious slipped away from Smoke and went over to Flint and Quail-light and the kits.
"She looks like a little Feather."Whisper purred out softly and looked at her.
Feather mewled and started feeding easily her little paws going into Quail-light's belly.

"So then little Feather and Rowan." Flint replied and smiled as he watched. Quail-light watched the kits and felt her kneading her stomach and immediately grew protective over them.
Midnight watched and blinked and then stepped away and went back over to Smoke and rubbed against him.

"Whats wrong?"Smoke asked her gently watching her rub against him.
Whisper purred out loudly and watched his siblings

Midnight blinked and gazed up at him. "Nothing." She replied a bit confused as to why he would think something was wrong.
Quail-light was happy to have kits beside her though was saddened that her best friend was gone. She sighed softly and set her head down and still hadn't said a word.
