Having Heartbreaker's POV was not helpful at all. The POV didn't fit anyone who was on my suspect list, so I figured he was very adept at hiding in plain sight. Justin was always at the edge of my mind because he was there. What tipped it for me to Justin was that he helped the sisters dig out the dead bushes and I realized that they had dumped Daddy's water there and the bushes had been poisoned. He was removing evidence.I had forgotten all about Donald Stark.
I like getting the murderers point of view. It does give the reader a hint at what is on his mind. He was devious and very self-assured. If he didn't make a mistake, I worried that he wouldn't get caught until a later book. Donald Stark should have been on my mind or why give his backstory. Sadly, I forgot about him completely as I got wrapped up in Tommy, Laurant, Nick, and Noah.
I forgot all about Donald Stark and Nick's backstory. When Nick realized that Justin was actually Donald Stark, I had to go back and refresh my memory. My main suspect was the sheriff. I thought he had to be doing more than letting his son get away with all sorts of things and playing second fiddle to Brenner.
I liked getting the Heartbreaker’s point of view because it helped me eliminate suspects. I was down to the construction workers in that rented house with Justin topping the list because of that. Donald Stark never entered my mind.
Don’t you find it fitting that Stark came after Nick only because of that video Wesson released? Ties a nice bow on kicking this man to the boondocks of USA.
