I don't think that The Apology is translated from Korean into English, based on her Amazon bio. Jimin Han was born in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up in Providence, Rhode Island; Dayton, Ohio; and Jamestown, New York. Her work has been supported by the New York State Council on the Arts. She is the author of A Small Revolution and has written for American Public Media's Weekend America, Poets & Writers, and Catapult, among others. She teaches at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, Pace University, and community writing centers. She lives outside New York City with her husband and children.
Here's a link to one of the resource lists I've been using if anyone is interested: https://londonkoreanlinks.net/books/l...
It lists a lot of non-fiction too, which I haven't added here but can do if it's helpful to people.
Jeshika wrote: "Oh, great investigating Carol, I'll update the first post on The Apology. :D"That cover, btw - lovely.
Han Kang's Greek Lessons came out in the US on Apr 18 2023. I didn't know it existed until a saw it on the new books table of my local independent bookstore in MA. Interesting, very quiet, book.
In case anyone is interested in short stories - Strangers Press just sent out an email announcing a new compilation titled IYAGI 이야기. This one comes after YEOYU 여유 and seems to already be available for order (whole set for £30 right now). The Naked Tree, a graphic novel by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim, translated by Janet Hong.
From Drawn & Quarterly's website:
Adapted from Park Wan-suh’s beloved novel, The Naked Tree paints a stark portrait of a single nation’s fabric slowly torn to shreds by political upheaval and armed conflict. Fleshing out the characters in fresh, imaginative ways, and incorporating the original author into the story, Gendry-Kim breathes new life into this Korean classic.
US release date is August 22. https://drawnandquarterly.com/books/t...
