Richard III and the Death of Chivalry by David Hipshon

Anyone familiar with this one? I'm not always that big on NF but it's in the library catalog and keeps popping up on my Amazon rec's.

Susan (boswellbaxter) | 418 comments I have it but haven't read it straight through. It could have used a good editor ("Although Somerset was now dead, Margaret resented his demise" and "Young though Edward III was, he came as a blessed relief after the pathetically partisan incompetence of his father and his father's historians"). It has the usual nonsense about poor 12-year-old Buckingham being made to marry a 24-year-old Catherine ("the Cougar") Woodville, and I spotted some other irritating minor factual errors. On the other hand, it doesn't carry its pro-Richard stance to the point of hagiography, which is refreshing, and it actually spares some sympathy for those executed by Richard and allows for the possibility of their having been innocent. I'd say on the whole it's worth reading.
