What are you reading now that has to do with the Pre 1940 time period?

I doubt it, it can have a French translation - the author lived in France in the 1930s and was translating his own works, but I doubt that an English one has been ever made.

Stephen Burridge | 169 comments I’m about halfway through Jirel of Joiry by C.L. Moore, which lost in the poll for next month’s group read. It is a collection of pulp weird adventure stories featuring a vaguely French medieval warrior queen, which appeared in Weird Tales magazine in the 1930s. So far I’d say it’s reasonably well written and has its moments of interest in the magical alternate worlds Jirel sees, but I’m not excited by it.

Thanks for the insight Stephen. I have been curious ever since it was nominated.

Stephen Burridge | 169 comments Last year I bought a copy of More Voices from the Radium Age and nominated it in the poll for the October 2023 monthly read. It didn’t win the vote. I’ve just read the book and entered a review:

A good interesting 4-star book for me.

I think I got it new at the local big bricks-and-mortar book store (Indigo.)
