I liked Island Magic but this one lost me. Tracey, since you've read so many of hers, do any more descend into this type of romance, or was this the only one?
I did not find this truly a romance per se. I found it a study of all the gothic elements. The manor/castle setting with the pervasive gloom and rain, supernatural elements with visions and ancient prophecy manifested in the characters causing the classic woman in distress with high emotion and conflict. Of course, to top it off, emotion wins over reason. Although Ian loves Judith in both the past and present, I found him oddly dismissive of her and willing to let her occupy less of priority in his life. She seems uncomfortable but accepting of the fact that she is often the only one pining.
I was thankful it did not end up being a story of soul possession but rather a broad reincarnation of lovers who got it wrong the first time.
