Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

Hello, I've been craving for a long time to do a graphic novel of my own book but the problem is I'm not sure how's the editorial process to get it published, are there specialized publishing houses that are open to new submissions? If I'm not the one drawing it, am I still considered as the author? How does it work for the illustrator then? Does it get like a percentage and an independent contract or something like that? I hope someone can answer my questions.
