As long as were discussing the prices of book, this leads me to another question which I hope to have your feedback for. This is a hypothetical situation. If I manage to have a very very very popular best selling author come to this group for a Q&A, would you consider reading this book as part of a group read.

message 2: by Freda (new)

Freda Malone Yes. I'd even buy the book if necessary. If it was a 'very very very' popular author.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds great Freda, especially since this is a very very very very very popular author.

David Blyth | 7 comments Yes I would

Me, too, if it's an author that I've already read.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Then I guess you would be joining us Kathryn.

Lynn Renee | 219 comments As long as I haven't already read it, I'm in.

Sounds good Lynn.

I agree with Lynn.

message 11: by Skye (new)

Skye | 307 comments It sounds like a nice idea, Ron, as long as the book was easy to buy and in print.

I must say I'm very curious . . .

I would say that you would have no trouble finding this book in print by this author Skye. The only trouble you would have is buying one since so many people will be buying the book before it gets sold out.

message 14: by Skye (new)

Skye | 307 comments Now, you have my attention, Ron.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

That's good Skye. The goal here is to get the attention of all the members to give me an answer to this question. Think of it like the movie Field Of Dreams. If you build it, he will come. So, if you answer this question, then the author may come.

Skye | 307 comments Ok, Ron!!!

message 17: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Injoy (carolyninjoy) I'd be interested in a group read if I could have a free .pdf advanced copy to read.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

In this case, since this author is a really popular bestselling writer who has been on the top of the NYT bestseller list many times, I can't do that. Sorry.

message 19: by Jenn (new)

Jenn I would be interested if I could get my hands on the book...

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you can get it quickly before they sell out.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Is this a book that's part of a series? Sometimes I read a popular author's books in a series, but not the stand-alones unless they are bargained price. I won't commit a yes without knowing the actual book. It may not be one that I'm interested in.

message 22: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It would depend on who the author is.

message 23: by Marcy (new)

Marcy Yes.

Interesting point Kathryin considering that you have read this author in the past. If this author was writing a new book, would you change your mind?

message 25: by Sawyer (new)

Sawyer | 3 comments Yes. Please make it S King, while you're at it....

It would just depend on the book and the author. For instance, a new James Patterson in one of the series that he writes, I will buy because I read all of those. The only stand-alones of his that I read are ones that I have picked up in bargain bins and such. There is nobody that I buy every new book regardless except for Stephen King. I haven't read all of his stuff yet but have been getting the newer ones as they come out. I guess it would depend on the story of the new book coming out. If it's something I'm interested in reading, I will probably buy it. If it's not a storyline I think I would like, I won't buy it. Just hard to say without knowing the book itself, rather than the author. There isn't any other author that I buy every single thing they write. Plus, I'm extremely frugal.

Maggie | 21 comments It depends on the author - if Stephen King, YES!

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I understand Kathryn. Maybe you'll change your mind.
In any case, the author is not Stephen King. If this goes through, I'll let everyone know who the author is.

message 29: by Marian (new)
