What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The girl is the last in line to inherit the kingdom (Planet?) but has to first compete in a tournament around space to solve the quest. She doesn't want to compete but is forced into it by her Uncle who is the current leader. She wants to be a space pirate. The competition is broadcast and different families compete, but one family is being underhanded and sneaky.

There are at least two books in the series. Read this in the at least 5 years ago so around 2018 or earlier.

A few of these plot points, but not all, appear in John Scalzi's The Interdependency series. The first, The Collapsing Empire, was published in 2017. I'm doubtful that this is your series but can we rule it out?

I remembered some more details...the quest is a treasure hunt of sorts where the different kids from the different families are flying over the galaxy to different planets to find clues. Some planets are all water or all extreme temperatures or winds. One planet has a huge tsunami wave that comes every so often and almost kills them.
